In Friday's five bet-at-home ICE Hockey League games, the home teams fell behind, but in the end the hosts took the victory. HC Tesla Orli Znojmo, Hydro Fehervar AV19 and HC Pustertal even turned around a 0:2 deficit.
The spusu Vienna Capitals returned to the top six of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League with a 5:3 home win over HC TIWAG Innsbruck. However, the eighth consecutive away defeat against Vienna saw the Innsbruck side drop out of the pre-playoff places. The game started promisingly for the visitors, with Alex Dostie giving HCI the lead in the tenth minute. But only a short time later Lowry equalised. In the middle period the Capitals got off to a lightning start, Niki Hartl and Fabio Artner made it 3:1 within 90 seconds. Mike Huntebrinker reduced the score to 3:2 and 4:3, but in the end Alex Wall secured the home victory with an empty netter. For Innsbruck it goes on in Znojmo on Saturday.
HC Pustertal, on the other hand, managed to climb back up to tenth place, beating EC-KAC 4:2 at home. After a goalless first period, the champions scored twice and it already looked like the third away win in the third duel of the season between these two clubs. But Anthony Bardaro and Reece Willcox even equalised in the middle period. In the third period the home side made the most of their chances with goals from Stukel (41.) and Bardaro (60./EN), on the other side goalie Tomas Sholl (40 saves in total) showed some important saves.
Fehervar, Znojmo and Graz succeed in season sweep
With Hydro Fehervar AV19, HC Tesla Orli Znojmo and the Moser Medical Graz99ers three teams managed a season sweep. Only one day after the 4:1 in Ljubljana, Fehervar also won on their own ice. The Slovenians even took a 2:0 lead, but by the 27th minute the home side had turned the game around with a goal from Braeden Shaw. The second-placed Hungarians celebrated a 5:2 victory in the end and thus took the maximum of twelve points from the four duels with Olimpija, who slipped to seventh place.
HC Tesla Orli Znojmo were also already 0:2 behind against Dornbirn, but with three goals in the middle period the Czechs took the lead. The lively exchange of blows continued, however, and the Vorarlbergers struck back with two more goals. After Stransky equalised the score at 4:4, Filip Ahl scored the game-winner with a remarkable goal. In the end, the best home team in the league won 7:4 and is in eighth place after its fourth win of the season over Dornbirn. While Znojmo will meet Innsbruck on Saturday, the Bulldogs travel to Villach.
Steinbach Black Wings Linz took a somewhat fortunate lead in Graz through a Bretschneider goal, but the 99ers were unimpressed. Martin (8th), Schiechl (14th) and Boivin (16th) made things clear in the first period. In the 40th minute, Michael Schiechl scored a brace for the decision and the 4:1 final score. The Styrians, who have recorded twelve points against the bottom team this season, are in ninth place in the table.
