On Thursday, Hydro Fehérvár AV19 and HK SŽ Olimpija start the CHL week. The Slovenians will make their home debut in the European top flight against TPS Turku. In the first game, the team of head coach Mitja Sivic was 1:0 ahead, but lost 2:3 in Finland. On Saturday, the team will play the Grizzlies Wolfsburg. The first leg was lost 2:7 after a weak first period.

Fehérvár are also aiming for their first CHL points, but the task is a difficult one. First up is the road game at current title holder Rögle Ängelholm. In their first meeting, the Hungarians narrowly missed a sensation. After 40 minutes, the Constantine team was leading 1:0, but the Swedes turned it in their favour. Fehérvár's road trip continues on Saturday at the ZSC Lions Zurich - the Hungarians were clearly beaten 1:7 on their debut in the Champions Hockey League less than a week ago.

Salzburg visits the far north
In the fight for a play-off ticket - the first two teams of each group reach the knock-out phase - EC Red Bull Salzburg currently has the best cards from a league point of view. After the home games against Stavanger (3:2 OT) and Ilves (2:3 OT) the Red Bulls have three points on their account. On Friday at Stavanger, the Salzburgers want to perform like they did in the first match, but be more efficient. The Red Bulls recorded almost twice as many shots on goal as the Norwegians. Two days later, they will play in Tampere. Paul Huber, Ty Loney and Philipp Wimmer are not available.

For the heavily depleted EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV there was nothing to get at Färjestad Karlstad and Comarch Cracovia on the first CHL weekend. In the return games, the Carinthians want to get the first points in front of their home crowd in order to still have a say in the promotion race. The Villach team hopes for the return of some players to the line-up.
