HC TIWAG Innsbruck, which is making its debut in the Champions Hockey League this season, celebrated its second win in the third game in the European top division on Thursday. After the surprising success against Geneva in the opener, the Tyroleans added a 2-1 home win over the Belfast Giants in the third game. After a scoreless first period in the TIWAG Arena, Gordon Green opened the scoring when he scored on a rebound after Brady Shaw had taken the puck. In the final period, the Sharks first had to accept a damper when they conceded the equalizer in a 5 vs. 3 power play. Corey Mackin then scored the deciding goal in a well played power play. On Sunday, HC TIWAG Innsbruck will play their last CHL game before the start of the season in the win2day ICE Hockey League.

Narrow defeat for Salzburg
EC Red Bull Salzburg had to accept a narrow defeat also in its third game of the Champions Hockey League. After defeats against Skellefteå AIK (SWE) and Adler Mannheim (GER) the champion of the win2day ICE Hockey League lost also in the home game against ERC Ingolstadt. Salzburg initially took the lead after a goalless first period thanks to a Chay Gelloway shorthanded goal, but then conceded two more goals in the second period. The German runners-up eventually prevailed 2-1. Before the start of the season in the win2day ICE Hockey League, Salzburg will face the Stavanger Oilers on Saturday.

Nothing to get for Bolzano against Swiss champion

The champion from Switzerland, against whom HC Innsbruck surprisingly won the CHL opener, clearly prevailed against the runner-up from the win2day ICE Hockey League with 6:1. Already in the first period Geneva started strongly with two goals.
