In the fourth duel of the season between the EC Red Bull Salzburg and the HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie, for the first time no goals were scored in the starting period. Both teams started cautiously into the game. The guests from Innsbruck had the slightly better chances, but without putting RBS goalkeeper Jean Philippe Lamoureux in serious danger.

In the second period, the hosts were the better team from the beginning. First, a shot from the Red Bulls hit the bar. A short time later, the puck was in the net for the first time. Philipp Wimmer, just 19 years old, scored in his first game for the Red Bulls. So far, the Vienna native has always been on the ice for the Red Bull Hockey Juniors in the Alps Hockey League. Just a few minutes later, RBS doubled the lead to 2:0 with Mario Huber scoring in the power play. With the score of 2:0 it went into the second break.

But the game was far from decided. The "Sharks" came out of the dressing room as if changed and turned up the heat in the final period. First the Canadian Jonathan Racine scored after three minutes and 48 seconds in the powerplay the 1:2. The equalizer was scored just shortly afterwards, in total 25 seconds later. Samuel Herr scored to make it 2:2. In the following, the two teams largely neutralized each other. But two and a half minutes before the end of the game, league top scorer Daniel Ciampini was able to finally turn the game for Innsbruck after a mistake by RBS goalkeeper Jean Philippe Lamoureux. It was already the 22nd goal of the season of the Canadian. Deven Sideroff scored an empty net goal four seconds before the end of the game to make it 4:2.

For the "Sharks" it was the second victory over RBS this season. In the standings, the Red Bulls can no longer make a leap forward due to this defeat and will finish Regular Season 1 in fifth place. HCI will occupy at least the ninth place.
