Intense last preparation weekend with the highlight of the Energie Steiermark Trophy

Last opportunity for teams of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga for preparation games. The highlight of this weekend is the Energie Steiermark Trophy with host Graz99ers playing against record champ Eisbären Berlin. But also off the ice, the program is full packed. For three other teams, the competitive part of the season already started and also on this weekend the Austrian CHL Teams are in action.

Energie Steiermark Tropy – ein Hockeyfestfest für die ganze Familie
International top clubs are guests in Graz at the Energie Steiermark Trophy. Beside the German record champion Eisbären Berlin, also the quarterfinal participant of Liiga Finnland – Lahti Pelicans – as well as the Slovakian finalist HK Nitha are battling for the trophy. The 99ers, who are facing the Eisbären Berlin, are good shape and won five out of six preparation games.

CHL clubs full in operation
The EC-KAC and the UPC Vienna Capitals have the chance for revenge in their CHL home openers on Thursday. After the KAC started this years CHL campaign with a 6:3 road win against Gap Rapaces, they suffered a close 2:1 away defeat against defending CHL champions Frölunda. On Thursday, the Swedish top club comes to Klagenfurt for the return game. Before they fight for important further points in their home game against the Rapaces on Saturday. 
 
On Sunday UPC Vienna Capitals fell to Finnsih team JYP Jyväskylä 4:1. As in their opening game the Viennese condeded an early goal against. After the overtime loss to Grodno, the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga champion has one point to their name. On Thursday the Caps await the group favorite from Finland at their rink, before hosting Neman Grodno on Saturday.

From Friday on the EC Red Bull Salzburg are back in CHL action with a road trip. On Friday they are facing the leader of group Tappara Tampere in Finland. After that they make their next stop at the HC05 Banská Bystrica   on Sunday and aim to increase their score on the standings. 
 
Further preseason games on last weekend
The HC Orli Znojmo continues its program with the eighth preseason game.  After winning their first two home games against Mlada Boleslav and Ceske Budejovice, the Eagles face MAC Budapest now. Two weeks ago, the Hungarians suffered a close 2:1 home defeat to Vienna Capitals.
 
 
After four preseason games HC Bolzano still keeps a clean sheet.  Today the team of head coach Pat Curcio travels to Klobenstein for their first Alperia Cup game. Bolzano plays Alps Hockey League champion Rittner Buam who celebrated a 3:0 win against HC Pustertal in the tournament’s first match.
Also the EHC LIWEST Black Wings Lings are in front of an intense preseason weekend. After winning the first four preparation games, two more big challenges are waiting. First, they are playing against Ingolstadt -the hosts of the tournament. On Saturday, they facing the nine times Swedish champion Färjestads BK.
 
The EC VSV played already past Friday against the SC Riessersee of the second German league and won with 6:3. One week later they are testing again against the SC Riessersee on the road.
 
Fehervar AV19 is inviting to the Ocskay Gabor memorial tournament. Beside the hosts of Szekesfehervar also a second EBEL team is taking part. The other two particpants of the tournament are Nove Zamky and the Lausitzer Füchse.
 
Last test double for HC TWK Innsbruck against the Straubing Tigers. For the first time the sharks can play in full strengths. The return game and last game of the preseason will be played on Sunday in Innsbruck. 
 
Also the Dornbirn Bulldogs are playing the last du preparation games on the coming weekend. On Friday they are on a road game at the NLA-Klub of EHC Klosten. The preseason of Dornbirn will be completed against DEL2 champion of Frankfurt.
