HC TWK Innsbruck „Die Haie“ got the first win in the year 2019! But, EC Red Bull Salzburg has scored the first goal in the new year: Peter Hochkofler was successful from a short distance in minute 8. The Sharks responded just 76 seconds later: Daniel Wachter potted the 1:1 from a short distance as well (9.). Then, the Red Bulls were applying pressure on their opponent, but HCI-goalie Luka Gracnar allowed no further goal in period 1. The guests started strong into period 2 and were quickly rewarded with the 2:1: John Lammers was successful from the center position after just 148 seconds. This was a wake-up-call for Salzburg, but goalie Luka Gracnar stopped Thomas Raffl and Co. from scoring. The Slovenian netminder had twelve saves in period 2. The hosts were the chiefs on the ice in the last 20 minutes too and were finally rewarded with the 2:2 by Raffl in minute 60. In the Overtime, Nick Ross decided the game for Innsbruck with a shot from the right circle.

spusu Vienna Capitals were the chiefs in the first minutes. The break-through came in minute 16: Taylor Vause scored the 1:0 from the slot. The Caps extended their lead still in period 1: Kelsey Tessier finished a perfect pass from Holzapfel. After the re-start, the hosts missed to extend their lead in a Power Play. Besides, Holzapfel, Nissner and Vause failed to score from good chances too. This was punished by Fehervar AV19. The Hungarians got stronger minute by minute and equalized the score: Donat Szita deflected the puck infront of the net after a shot from Daniel Szabo (25.) – 1:1 and then, Erdely scored the 2:2 just 173 seconds later. The Austrians tried to answer, but failed to score (even on Power Play). The Capitals were applying pressure on their opponent in period 3 and were finally rewarded for their effort with the 3:2 from Peter Schneider, who has also netted the 4:2 into the empty net in minute 60.

EC-KAC has earned their third straight win in Villach on Tuesday. Klagenfurt took the lead twice thanks goals from Stefan Geier in the first Power Play of the game (8.) and Nicholas Petersen (40.). In period 3, Villach couldn‘t take advantage from five Power Plays. Besides, KAC-goalie Haugen stopped all 17 shots from the Eagles and fixed the derby-win for his team.

01.01.2019: HC Orli Znojmo vs. EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz 5:8 (1:3,2:3,2:2)

Znojmo started the game in better fashion and was applying pressure on their opponent: In the 7. minute Lattner scored from the blue line – 1:0. The Red Eagles took a Penalty and this was the game changer: Kevin Kapstad netted the 1:1 in the Power Play. Linz was suddenly up. Brian Lebler found a gate from the middle of the circles. Short after that, the score could have been equal again, but Hlava missed the gate facing Ouzas. Two minutes before the break, Sedlak lost the puck before the gate and Dan DaSilva increased the lead 3:1. Znojmo played offensive in period 2, but Linz was the team, what scored. Kearns put the puck into the gate after Leblers shot. Lebler was successful too. Now, Znojmo changed their goalie. Halasz was on the ice for 39 seconds, when Rick Schofield netted the 6:1. Znojmo showed big character and came back with goals from Erik Nemec (from the left circle), C.J. Stretch, Mikko Vainonen (after a mistake in the Linz defensive). Znojmo was the better team on the ice now and took shot by shot: Radim Matus netted the 5:6. Linz took a time-out and the win: Kristler was successful from a break and then, Dan DaSilva has even added the 8:5.

The Moser Medical Graz99ers continued their good run against KHL Medvescak Zagreb on New Years Day. The Styrians won 6:2 and earned their fifth straight win. The Mur Citizens were the chiefs on the ice from the beginning (51:17-shots). Yellow Horn (4.), Loney (10.), Kainz (13.), Garbowsky (14.), Zusevics (28.) and Caito (32.) gave their team a 6:0-lead after just 32 minutes. The Styrians could have lead higher after 40 minutes as well, but the post stopped the puck. The Croatians showed character in period 3 and were rewarded with two goals from Curcic (46.) and a shorthander netted by Zanoski.

HCB Südtirol Alperia had the first chances of the match (Nordlund (5.), Deluca just hit the post (7.)), but the Dornbirn Bulldogs scored the first goal. Trotter poked the puck in from close range. Bozen stayed unlucky, hit the post once again late in period 1. Period 2 started perfect for the guests from Bozen: Crescenzi potted the 1:1 in a Power Play after just 52 seconds. The Italians continued this way: Petan netted the 2:1. But, the Austrians had a quick answer: Pöschmann scored the 2:2 from the left face-off-circle just two minutes later. In period 3, Brian Connelly decided the game for the Vorarlberger: The defender got the puck on the blue line and scored – 3:2. The Foxes tried to respond, but goalie Rinne did not allow a third goal.
