Italy wants to make it into the top division at the World Championships

The Italian national team will be in action from Sunday at the Division IA World Championship in Sfântu Gheorghe/Romania. With 13 players from the win2day ICE Hockey League, head coach Jukka Jalonen's team is aiming for promotion.

Italy will play the opening game of the World Championship against Japan on Sunday at 11.30 am. For Team Italy, it will be the first of five games on the way back to the top division. Last year, the "Azzurri" narrowly missed out on promotion after finishing third in their home tournament. With Dylan Di Perna, Jason Seed, Luca Frigo, Dustin Gazley, Daniel Mantenuto, Nick Saracino (all HCB Südtirol Alperia), Daniel Glira, Luca Zanatta, Mikael Frycklund, Matthias Mantinger, Tommy Purdeller (all HC Pustertal), Alex Ierullo and Bryce Misley (both Asiago), 13 players from the win2day ICE Hockey League are in the Italian squad.

The World Championship appearances of head coach Jukka Jalonen's team can be seen on IIHF TV. In Italy, the games will also be broadcast on RaiSport and RaiPlay.
