Jesenice announces new head coach, Kitzbühel and Ritten with signings

Gaber Glavic is the new head coach of HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. The 39-year-old former goaltender played professional hockey in Jesenice for almost his whole career and has been goalie coach of the Slovenian national team in the last few years. In addition, EC ‚Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel signed 20-year-old Latvian center Gatis Sprukts while Andreas Lutz returns to Rittner Buam.

Gaber Glavic is well-known to the fans in Jesenice as he started playing hockey for the club's youth teams. As a member of the first team he won four national championship titles for Jesenice, where the former goaltender played professional hockey for almost his whole career. After retiring he stayed with the club as coach of the u20 Erste Bank Young Stars League team. In the last few years, Glavic was goalie coach of the Slovenian national team. Now he takes over as head coach of the Alps Hockey League side.
 
Kitzbühel signs young Latvian center
In the past years Gatis Sprukts played 142 games (39 points) in the Russian youth league MHL for his home club in Riga. In the 2015-16 season he even played one KHL game for Dinamo Riga. The 20-year-old is a strong physical player and looks forward to this new challenge: "I have heard lots of positive about the city and the team from Oskars Batna and Deivids Sarkanis, who played for the eagles last campaign. I expect a high level in Alps Hockey League with lots of good teams and brilliant individual players."
 
Andreas Lutz back to Renon
After five years in Pontebba, four with Milano and two with Asiago, Andreas Lutz returns to Rittner Buam, where he already played in the 2005-06 campaign. When the technically and tactically strong defender came to Asiago in 2015, he also played forward. In the past two years the 31-year-old gained 76 points (32 goals, 44 assists) in 94 championship games. In 2016 he won the Italian Supercup with Asiago. Last season they lost both finals (Alps Hockey League and Italian championship) just against Ritten.
