Jesenice justified their role as favourite right from the beginning. After only 79 seconds Milano's Andrea Schina had to go to the penalty box and Mathieu Gagnon opened the scoring. The hosts were the dominant side but it took them 16 minutes to score a second when Blaž Tomaževič netted on power play. Soon later Tomaževič beat Milano goalie Federico Tesini for a third time, this time at even strength. Only 43 seconds after the restart Miha Brus netted with a man advantage. As a result, Martino Valle da Rin replaced his colleague in the Italians' net. The new goalie had a lot of work as the guests could barely get the puc out of their zone. In the next power play Brus (28') added his second of the night with Jesenice using all of their four power plays. Just a few minutes later Luka Basic registered on the scoresheet. In the final period the hosts shifted down some gears with David Rodman rounding off the scoring after 45 minutes for a 7:0 home win. It was the first shutout for new Jesenice goalie Matt Climie.
