HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice took revenge on EK Die Zeller Eisbären for the defeat in the first duel of the season - and won the home game 3:2 on Thursday. For the Slovenian league leader it was the sixth win in a row, sitting eight points ahead of second-placed Asiago. Twice the "Eisbären" took the lead in the Arena Podmežakla, Erik Svetina and Jesperi Viikila equalized each. Towards the end Jesenice survived a double shorthanded situation and Saso Rajsar rewarded his team with the game-winner 100 seconds left.
Val Gardena reaches top-6 for the first time | Ritten back on third spot
HC Gherdeina valgardena.it remains hot and recorded its seventh win in a row with a clear 5:1 victory at BEMER VEU Feldkirch. The "Furie" moved up to sixth place in standings. Five different players scored, back-up goalie Paul Hofer impressed with a save percentage of 98.1%. The Vorarlberg team was only able to convert one of their 53 shots on goal into a goal.
An early goal put the Rittner Buam back on the winning track at home against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan: MacGregor Sharp scored already in the fifth minute. Julian Kostner (43.) doubled up for the Buam in the final period – and brought Ritten on course for their tenth win of the season after regulation. With the 4:0 shutout win – goalie Jacob Smith stopped all 14 shots on goal and went scoreless for the second time this season – the former AHL champions moved back into third place, while the Broncos conceded their fourth loss in a row.
Cortina and Fassa end losing streak
S.G. Cortina Hafro bounced back from five straight losses last time out with a 3:1 win at EC-KAC Future Team. A brace from Riccardo Lacedelli and strong goalie Marco De Filippo (96.8%) were the match winners for the Ampezzani. For Klagenfurt it was the first home defeat after five wins in a row.
SHC Fassa Falcons celebrated success after a three-game losing streak, as the Italians prevailed at home against EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel with 7:4. The home team gave away an early 3:0 lead in the first seven minutes of the middle frame, before three more goals until the second break provided the preliminary decision. Diego Iori scored twice and dished one assist too.
Salzburg stops Meran's run
Red Bull Hockey Juniors put a temporary end to the upward trend of HC Meran/o Pircher, clearly defeating the league newcomer 6:2. After the South Tyroleans responded to Josef Eham's early opening goal (5.) with goals from Luca Ansoldi (12.) - scoring for the third time in a row - and Daniel Gellon (24.), the young Bulls regained the lead with two late goals in the middle period. Eham and Oskar Maier each scored a brace.
