HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice beat EK Die Zeller Eisbären in the Alps Hockey League on Saturday 6:1 and moved up to place 9. Besides, EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau has opened the Austrian finals with a 3:2/OT-win in Salzburg and the Rittner Buam started the Italian finals with a 4:3-victory in Asiago. Plus: HC Gherdeina valgardena.it has presented Finn Timo Keppo as their new Head Coach.

HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice has been on fire in their home-game against EK Die Zeller Eisbären (48:20-shots): Luka Basic has opened the scoring in the first Power Play  of the game in minute 13. The guests took some penalties after the re-start as well and were again punished: David Rodman (34./pp) and Tadej Cimzar (36./pp) extended the lead with two Power Play goals – 3:0. The Slovenes continued applying pressure on their opponent. Andrej Tavzelj has even potted the 4:0 late in the second period. Then, EKZ-goalie Dominik Frank was replaced by Back-up Patrick Machreich. The „Red Steelers“ still had the upper hand of the game in the last 20 minutes and added another two goals netted by Kalan (48.) and Basic (55.). The Austrians scored one too: David Rodman got the first penalty of his team for roughing in minute 53 and in the following Power Play, LeBlanc put the puck in.

Lustenau and Rittner Buam opened AUT and ITA finals with wins
EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau has won the first leg of the Austrian finals at Red Bull Hockey Juniors 3:2 after Overtime. Matchwinner was Vallerand with two goals. The re-match will follow in Vorarlberg on Sunday (17:30). Rittner Buam have opened the Italian finals with a 4:3-victory in Asiago. The South Tyroleans came back from a 1:2-deficit in period 3, Frei has potted two goals. The re-match will follow in Klobenstein on Sunday (18:00).

Timo Keppo took over in Gherdeina
Patrice Lefebvre is no longer Head Coach in Gherdeina. After three straight defeats and loosing contact to the Top 10, the club has decided to split ways with the 51-year old Italo-Canadian. The Italians have already found their new Head Coach: Finn Timo Keppo, who has worked with the youth teams so far, will lead the "Furies" from now on.
