In the American Hockey League, Oligny initially played for the Milwaukee Admirals, Cincinnati Cyclones and Chicago Wolves. Signed as a free agent by the Vegas Golden Knights, the 2023 Stanley Cup winners, Oligny joined Manitoba in 2019.

The Canadian has a total of 485 AHL games to his name and has played in the Division Semifinals twice with Manitoba. He was honoured with the AHL's coveted Yanick Dupré Memorial Award as "Man of the Year" in the summer of 2023. After a brief stint in Slovakia with HKM Zvolen, Jimmy Oligny will now strengthen the Graz99ers' defence. The new signing has already arrived in Styria and will soon be training with the team for the first time.

Philipp Pinter, sports director of the Graz99ers: "Jimmy is an excellent skater and will bring a very strong physical component to our game. He should give us defensive stability and also fits our requirements profile perfectly in terms of character. We should therefore be well equipped for this intensive phase of the season and have enough depth in defence to be able to react appropriately to possible absences."
