Joel Broda started his European career in the 2015/16 season with HCB Südtirol Alperia. He then played in Linz, Dornbirn, Innsbruck and most recently in Graz - only in Upper Austria he stayed for two years. The center played his first season in Linz (16/17) under Rob Daum, who will now coach him again in Villach. The Canadian scored 122 goals in his ICE career so far, in the past one at Graz he scored ten goals.

"A top team is being built here. I've heard only good things about the organization and the beautiful city and lakes all around. I'm also looking forward to the loud and passionate VSV fans. Also, I really wanted to play under Rob Daum again, he is a great coach. I'm looking forward to Villach and a successful season in the blue and white jersey," Broda said.

"Joel is a very experienced player, a top scorer in our international league and also a very good guy in the locker room. He's been designated as a third-line center for us. His strengths are in offense - he's a real scorer, but without neglecting defense. He's also a strong power play player and excellent on face-offs," Rob Daum reports about his desired player.
