Julia Kainberger made history at the ZSC Lions Zurich game against the Straubing Tigers. She was the first woman ever to referee a CHL game. The hosts from Zurich won 3:2 at the premiere. This Saturday, the Salzburg native will again act as head referee for Genève-Servette against Ilves Tampere.

Julia Kainberger has already made refereeing history several times. The 29-year-old is not only the first and only female referee to officiate a game in the Champions Hockey League and win2day ICE Hockey League as head referee, but also the only Austrian woman - including all her male colleagues - to officiate as an hockey referee at the Olympic Games.
