Juniors earn eleventh win in a row

On Thursday the Red Bull Hockey Juniors also won the second game against Rittner Buam within six days. The Salzburg side held the upper hand 3:2 and defended third place in the standings thanks to their eleventh successive win. In the second game of the day Hockey Milano Rossoblu got a 6:5 home victory against bottom-club HC Fassa Falcons.

The Juniors got off a better start with Dennis Lobach opening the scoring after only 98 seconds. The hosts kept the pressure up but also Ritten generated the first chances. After Salzburg goalie Leevi Laakso made a big save, the Juniors added a second when Yannic Pilloni found the back of the net at the other end. In the 13th Ritten's transition game worked well and Patrik Luza got the guests on the scoreboard. Soon later Justin Schütz restored the two-goal lead, though, and the hosts had a 3:1 lead after the first. Early in the second the home team had a first power play, but the league's best PK made a good job. In further consequence the Italian champion wasted some good chances. In the 32th minute Manuel Öhler kept nerves in front of Laakso to make it a one-goal game again - 3:2. Ritten came close to tie the game but also the Juniors had some chances but Thomas Tragust avoided another goal against. In the third Ritten had the momentum um pushed hard for an equalizer but Laakso made some reat stops. The hosts killed the clock successfully for a 3:2 home win, defending third place in the standings.

It was a real match in the fourth seasonal clash between Milan and Fassa. The home team took the lead with Simone Asinelli's goal after a slap shot. Fassa fortunately drew with a shot of Luca Zandonella from the distance. The match remained very hard fought and before the end of the initial period, Marcello Borghi realized the advantage of the red blue team in counterattack. In the second half, Milan advanced in the result with Petrov (rebound/PP) and Tilaro (wrist shot).  Right in the middle of the match Milan was 4:1 ahead. But the Falcons didn't give up. Iori with a slap shot and immediately after Castlunger and again Iori allowed to Fassa to draw before the end of the second half. Iori completed his hat-trick after 36 seconds from the beginning of the third period. Milan then tried to reopen the match and after a long attack they finalized with Burton (57'). The eleventh goal of the game was the decisive one and was scored by Tommaso Terzago in overtime. Milan won 6:5 against the Falcons. The Fassa mathematically closed in the last place of AHL while Milan will be in 16th place. Milan returned to victory after nine consecutive defeats. For Fassa it was the 18th consecutive defeat.
