The Red Bull Hockey Juniors secured second place in the Master Round on Thursday after a comeback home win against Asiago. KHL Sisak clinched home-ice advantage in the quarterfinals with a road victory in Vipiteno. Meanwhile, Hafro Cortina Hockey, HC Gherdeina, and HC Meran/o Pircher each won their second Pre-Playoff games, completing the quarterfinal field.
Master Round
Red Bull Hockey Juniors – HC Migross Asiago 7:4 (0:1, 1:2, 6:1)
Asiago took the lead shortly before the first intermission and doubled their advantage early in the second. After the Juniors pulled one back, Chiodo restored Asiago’s two-goal cushion. But in the final period, the home team staged an impressive comeback, scoring six times—Kogler, Maul, and Juhola each netting twice—to turn the game around. The 7:4 victory secured second place in the Master Round for Salzburg.
Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan – KHL Sisak 3:4 (2:0, 0:2, 1:2)
The Broncos started strong, creating numerous chances and taking a 2:0 lead into the first break. However, Sisak equalized with two quick goals just 33 seconds apart. Yeob gave the visitors the lead early in the final frame. Although Cianfrone tied it again with his second of the night, Marinkovic soon delivered the game-winner. With the away victory, Sisak locked up home-ice advantage for the quarterfinals.
Pre-Playoffs
Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel – HC Gherdeina valgardena.it 3:4 OT (2:1, 0:2, 1:0)
After winning Qualification Round B, Gherdeina also came out on top in the Pre-Playoff series against Kitzbühel. The Tyrolean side started much stronger in Game 2, taking a 2:0 lead thanks to two quick goals in the 10th minute. The visitors reduced the deficit before the break, equalized early in the second, and Vozovik put them ahead 3:2 midway through the game. In the third period, Fröwis tied it at 3:3, sending the game to overtime, where Deluca scored the decisive goal in the 65th minute.
EC Bregenzerwald – HC Meran/o Pircher 2:6 (0:1, 2:0, 0:5)
HC Meran/o Pircher also won their second Pre-Playoff matchup against EC Bregenzerwald to advance to the quarterfinals. Following their 4:2 home win, the South Tyroleans added a convincing 6:2 road victory. Larcher opened the scoring late in the first period, but the hosts turned the game around after the restart, leading 2:1 after 40 minutes. The final frame, however, belonged to Meran: two quick goals within eleven seconds flipped the game, Gellon extended the lead, and the visitors finished strong to seal a clear win.
S.G. Cortina Hafro – Rittner Buam SkyAlps 4:1 (0:0, 2:0, 2:1)
Cortina secured the final quarterfinal spot in the Alps Hockey League. After their road win in Collalbo, Gaber Glavic’s team also prevailed at home. Following a scoreless opening third, Sanna broke the deadlock and Chad Pietroniro doubled the advantage before the second break. Kostner gave Ritten a brief spark of hope, but Chad Pietroniro restored the two-goal lead before completing his hat-trick with an empty-netter for the 4:1 final score. For Ritten, it’s only the second time since 2021 that they have missed the quarterfinals.
