After two shootout home wins in the two Carinthian derbies so far this season, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and EC-KAC started intensely into the local clash. Already in the first minutes players of both teams had to sit in the penalty box. John Hughes gave the Eagles the lead on the resulting four-on-three power play, ending Villach's drought in power play. In the second period, Nick Petersen equalized in a hot derby phase with numerous chances. However, VSV went ahead again in the second period through a successful penalty shot by Anthony Luciani. In the final period, the "Rotjacken" managed to equalize again in overtime before Robert Sabolic ended his goal drought in the 53rd minute to give Villach an advantage for the third time in this encounter. As they had done twice before, the KAC again had the right answer just over three minutes before the end. This time the guests were able to follow up: Thomas Vallant shot the KAC to the derby victory just under a minute before the end. While the Villach series was broken for the second time this season after five wins in a row, the KAC was able to celebrate its second derby win in the current season. In the standings, the Klagenfurt team managed to jump into the top 6.

Bolzano remains unblemished in derbies

HCB Südtirol Alperia also wins the third derby of the season against HC Pustertal and continues to put pressure on the league leader. In an even starting third, the Foxes acted more efficiently than the Wolves and went into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead. In the second period, the home side initially took full control of the match and took a 2:0 lead through captain Daniel Frank. Pustertal managed to score the equalizer in the last second of the middle period. Dustin Gazley ensured the decision in the final period with his second goal of the evening. Bolzano finally celebrated a 4:1 victory and remains on the heels of table leader Innsbruck. Pustertal, on the other hand, missed the chance to make the jump to the pre-playoff places by winning the points.

Innsbruck defends league lead

HC TIWAG Innsbruck remains at the top of the table after Tuesday's round - after a 4:2 victory over Hydro Fehérvár AV19. For the Hungarians - who met all top-3 teams within five days - this was already the third defeat in a row. As a result, they had to relinquish their place among the top-6 for the time being. The scoring on Tuesday night was opened by the league's top scorer Brady Shaw with his 43rd scoring point this season. Tyler Cuma added one just 20 seconds later to make it 2-0 before nearly 40 scoreless minutes followed. Istvan Terbocs finally scored the connecting goal in the 45th minute - which was goal No. 1000 in the current win2day ICE Hockey League season. A little more than five minutes before the end Fehérvár could equalize, but a brace by Corey Mackin then ensured the decision of the league leader.

Linz climbs to 4th place

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz take over fourth place in the table after a clear success over HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana. While this was the fourth win in the last five games for the Upper Austrians, the Slovenians had to admit defeat for the fourth time in a row. The Black Wings gave the Dragons no chance from the start and took HKO keeper Anthony Morrone under heavy fire. In both the first and second period, the hosts managed a double-plack within four minutes. In the final period, Shawn St-Amant was the fifth Linz crack on the score sheet, before Ljubljana managed to score a consolation goal. The Black Wings celebrated a 5:1 victory and are now only one point behind third-placed Villach.

Asiago celebrates tenth win of the season

Migross Supermercarti Asiago keeps the pressure on the top-10 teams of the win2day ICE Hockey League high. After a hard-fought 3-2 away win at Moser Medical Graz99ers, the gap to tenth-placed HK SZ Olimpija is now just two points. The Styrians are also within striking distance of the league newcomers after winning the head-to-head clash. For the Yellow-Reds, this was already the second win in the third encounter with Graz. Like the other two duels, the match ended 3-2 for the away team. Asiago took the lead in both the first and third periods of the match, but the Styrians had the right answer in each case. Giordano Finoro then scored the game-winning goal five minutes before the end.
