Clemens Unterweger represented EC-KAC in 277 league games so far since his move to Klagenfurt, resulting in 96 scorer points (23 goals, 72 assists). The defender finished every season with the KAC with a clearly positive plus/minus balance and currently holds a +68 rating overall.

The now 31-year-old advanced to become a core member of the red-white championship teams of 2019 and 2021, and at the same time he also became a permanent fixture in the Austrian national team. He will not reinforce the national team in May at the A-World Cup in Finland, however, Clemens Unterweger underwent surgery last week, which was unavoidable after an upper body injury suffered in the course of this season.

Oliver Pilloni, General Manager: "We are very pleased with the development Clemens Unterweger has taken in his five years with our club so far. He is a smart all-rounder and as such an essential factor for the stability in our defense. There are not many homegrown defensemen in the ICE Hockey League who bring a total package at this level, so we are very pleased that Clemens Unterweger has decided to commit to our club for the longer term. We consider him to be one of the basic building blocks of our team for the coming years, both athletically and personally."
