Right at the start of the game, the Red Bulls (without Thomas Raffl and Ty Loney) had more of the play on an early power play and tested Klagenfurt's goalie Sebastian Dahm with first good shots. From about the eighth minute on, the game went up and down at a high tempo, with alternating dangerous situations in front of the goals. The first goal was scored by Paul Postma in the 14th minute with a one timer. 20 seconds before the break KAC added a second goal, Lukas Haudum deflected decisively. In the middle period, defenders Jesper Jensen Aabo and Clemens Unterweger gave the hosts a 4:0 lead, with Salzburg goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen making way for David Kickert.

Kickert promptly had to concede the first goal against with Nick Petersen netting in a powerplay situation. Tyler Lewington (34th) and Mario Huber (35th) scored two goals, but Salzburg did not manage to catch up. During power play in the third period, the guests took Kickert off the ice for a sixth skater, but Thomas Hundertpfund ensured the 6:2 final score with an empty netter. The series continues on Tuesday at 1:1 in Salzburg.

Bolzano wins in Vienna
HCB Südtirol Alperia took the momentum from their 2:1 overtime home win to Vienna and took the lead in the fourth minute through Mike Halmo. After a Gazley assist, the HCB forward gave Stefan Steen no chance.

With the 1:0 it went also into the break, only 22 seconds after restart the guests celebrated once again. Halmo's forechecking on the boards provoked a pass from a Caps defender to the middle straight to McClure, who scored. The white-reds dictated the match until well over half of the encounter, the goal output could have been even higher. After that, the home side took command. In power paly, Lukas Kainz (35th) scored, but shortly after Mike Dalhuisen restored the two-goal lead with a shot from distant. But the Capitals didn't let themselves be asked twice either and cut the deficit again after another minute with a Matt Bradley tap-in. The home side then came close to equalizing through Angeli, with Harvey making a big save. The Viennese started a storming run in the final period, but could not crack the HCB defense. Bolzano kept the 3:2 over time, won the third duel of the season in Vienna and took the 2:0 series lead. On Tuesday, the third encounter will take place in Bolzano, PULS 24 will show the game live.
