Sterzing came to Klagenfurt in rising form with four wins from the last five games. The Carinthians only celebrated a success in Linz on Thursday. At first, the two goalkeepers Jakob Holzer and Jakob Rabanser were in the spotlight, both excelling a few times. In the 19th minute, the guests broke the scoring deadlock on the first power play when Ryan Valentini put the puck into the short cross corner. In the middle period, the KAC took command, but without being able to convert the superiority into goals. The South Tyroleans, on the other hand, were always dangerous on the counter-attack - the score was 0:1 going into the second intermission. In the 52nd minute, the hosts finally scored the equaliser - Marcel Witting hammered the puck into the net to make it 1-1. A few seconds before the end of regulation time, the guests almost managed the lucky punch, but Valentini missed the finish. After the Broncos initially missed some top-class chances in the overtime, KAC top scorer Markus Pirmann ensured the decision. The hosts thus celebrated only their second win in their twelfth meeting with Sterzing. Klagenfurt remain in 15th place, but are only one point behind Kitzbühel. The Broncos, on the other hand, moved up to twelfth place with the point win.
