The EC-KAC Future Team and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice started into the duel with completely different prerequisites. While the young Klagenfurt team had the red lantern before the duel and won only one of their last eleven games, the Slovenians recorded 16 wins in a row and are therefore superior leaders of the Alps Hockey League. Right from the start, Klagenfurt showed teeth especially in defense and could rely on Florian Vorauer as a safe goal keeper. Despite a chance plus of the leader, the Klagenfurter did not allow a goal for the first 40 minutes, but also could not set any decisive accents in the offense. Immediately after the start of the final period, Samuel Witting even managed to take the lead. The Slovenians rebelled once again and managed to equalize in the 49th minute. But the KAC presented itself strong-willed and fought for its first win after ten defeats against Jesenice. Finally, defender Patrick Walder made the sensation perfect with his second goal of the season. Jesenice remains clearly ahead in the standings, but the Klagenfurt team was able to pass the red lantern to the Steel Wings Linz thanks to this success, although they played seven games more.
