KAC targets another road-win

Two days after beating bet-at-home ICE leader HCB Südtirol Alperia, the third-ranked EC-KAC hits the road again, stopping by at fourth-ranked Hydro Fehérvár AV19, which has a three-game winning streak available, to grab the fifth straight road-victory. With faceoff 5.30 pm, the Moser Medical Graz99ers host Steinbach Black Wings 1992, as both teams play for ending each losing streak. Graz might have both new-arrivals – they tabbed former Bolzano and Dornbirn forward Matias Sointu Wednesday noon – on the team. Both games will be available as pay-per-view video-stream on live.ice.hockey.

Wednesday’s lone ICE game spusu Vienna Capitals against EC GRAND Immo VSV will be available as pay-per-view video-stream on Caps’s website. Live coverage starts 6.55 pm.

  • The duel between the Moser Medical Graz99ers and the Steinbach Black Wings 1992 starts already at 6:30 pm.
  • Both teams are fighting to end their losing streak: G99 has lost its last eight games in a row, picked up one point only twice, but celebrated its last win against BWI, which has been winless for three games.
  • G99 is currently in seventh place in standings with 30 points, BWI is last with 14 points. Both teams have played 21 games.
  • The two teams have grabbed the fewest points in the league over the last ten games. Graz scored eight, Linz six. BWI has also shown by far the weakest offensive performance in this phase (1.4 goals per game), G99 scored an average of three goals in the last ten games.
  • In both season meetings, the home team has always prevailed. (2-0 @BWI and 3-1 @G99).
  • At home, G99 has won eight of the last nine games against BWI - and the last three in a row. Of 114 games against each other, BWI has won 74.
  • Graz continues to struggle with personnel problems - Parker MacKay is no longer available too, ends his career after an injury suffered Saturday night at Fehervar. Instead, the Styrians hired defender Anton Mylläri and forward Matias Sointu, who won the title with Bolzano back in 2018 and strengthened Dornbirn past season. Both could start against Linz, provided the registration formalities can be completed in time.

  • In Hungary, it comes to the duel of two neighbors with the same number of points (37): The fourth-placed Hydro Fehérvár AV19 hosts the third EC-KAC, which has played one game less.
  • The two previous season duels were clearly won by KAC (5:0 and 4:1).
  • The KAC conceded an average of only 1.90 goals per game (from play), while AVS conceded 3.21. On the other hand, the Hungarians are more present offensively, netting 3.63 goals per game, the KAC 2.62.
  • AVS is without defeat for three games.
  • The KAC has a strong away series to defend, last "on the road" won four times in a row and conceded only three goals. More victories away from home in a row, seven, were last achieved by the EC-KAC between October and December 2017.
  • Of 68 games against each other so far, the KAC has won 37.
  • It is the 35th duel in Hungary, AVS has won 22 of them.
  • The use of Marcel Witting is questionable, but Thomas Vallant returns to the KAC lineup, the comeback of Clemens Unterweger is possible too.
