The EC-KAC won the final rematch against the HCB Südtirol Alperia with 4:2. Rok Ticar scored twice. The top duo HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana and Hydro Fehérvár AV19 celebrated clear victories. The Moser Medical Graz99ers won for the first time away from home since February 23rd. In a defensively dominated game between the EC Red Bull Salzburg and the spusu Vienna Capitals, the decision had to bee made in the shootout, in which the Red Bulls prevailed. In the other two games, TESLA Orli Znojmo and HC TIWAG Innsbruck – Die Haie prevailed away from home.
Leading duo with clear victories
Both table leader HK SZ Olimpija and runner-up Hydro Fehérvár AV19 celebrated clear victories. Ljubljana defeated the EC GRAND Immo VSV with 6:0. Goalie Zan Us saved all 24 shots on his goal and celebrated his third shutout this season. For Villach it was the first game since February 5th in which they did not score a goal. They are in ninth place in the standings.
Fehérvár also has eight wins. The runner-up is two points behind leader Ljubljana. On Friday, the Hungarians were clearly successful with 6:1 against the Steinbach Black Wings Linz. AVS goalie Daniel Kornakker was just 92 seconds short of his first shutout of the season. Four different players were on the scoresheet for Fehérvár. Swede Henrik Nilsson and Canadian Josh Atkinson scored twice. The Black Wings slipped back to the last place in the table due to the clear away defeat.
KAC wins final rematch
The EC-KAC won the final rematch against the HCB Südtirol Alperia with 4:2. In front of more than 3200 spectators, Rok Ticar gave the home side a 1:0 lead in the tenth minute of the game. The Slovenian also scored in the 52nd minute of the game to make the final score. Before that, the guests from South Tyrol, for whom Anton Bernard played his 700th game, were able to strike back and turn the game around completely. Angelo Miceli (22.) and Brett Findlay (25.) scored for the eighth in the table. In the 35th minute of the game, Klagenfurt struck back and equalized through Samuel Witting. At the beginning of the final period, Paul Postma scored in the power play to make it 3:2 for the KAC. It was the only PP goal this evening. Klagenfurt is now in fourth place in the standings and five points ahead of HCB, who have already conceded five losses this season.
Graz leaves bottom of the table
The Moser Medical Graz99ers won against the iClinic Bratislava Capitals with 5:1. For the Styrians it was the first win after four defeats in a row. Away from home it was the first win since February 23rd and six defeats in a row. Three of the four goals of Graz were scored within the first 27 minutes of the game. In the meantime, the Slovaks were able to shorten the gap. With a brace shortly before the end, by Andrew Gordon, the 99ers decided the game in their favor.
TESLA Orli Znojmo also won a way from home. The Czechs gave the Dornbirn Bulldogs no chance in a 5:1 victory. In a very heated game the hosts had a lightning start - Kevin Macierzynski scored after just 27 seconds - but after that the fourth-placed team from the Czech Republic set the tone. They had a 4:1 lead after the first period. Radek Prokes made the final score shortly after the start of the second period. For the Czech it was already the seventh goal of the season and the second of the evening.
No goals between Salzburg and Vienna for the first time
For the first time, no goal was scored in the regular playing time in the duel EC Red Bull Salzburg vs. spusu Vienna Capitals. In an uneventful game, the Red Bulls made the decision in the shootout. Jan-Mikael Järvinen was the only player to score in the shootout. For Salzburg it was already the second game in a row in which they could not score a goal in the first 60 minutes and already the fifth game in a row in which they had to go into overtime. The Vienna Capitals conceded their first defeat after previously winning two games in a row.
In the seventh game of the day the HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie was victorious at the HC Pustertal with 4:3. After the first period, the guests led with 2:0, including Joel Messner scoring his first of two goals this night. After the second period the "Sharks" were in front with 4:2. In the final period, the "Wolves" from Bruneck shortened, but missed the equalizer and conceded their fifth defeat in a row. In the table, Pustertal slipped back to the thirteenth place. HCI is on the strong seventh place in the table.
