Kevin Boyle started his career as usual in the youth teams and the NCAA University Championship until he received his first contract in the American Hockey League in 2016 and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Anaheim Ducks. In his first year with the San Diego Gulls, he posted a .924 save percentage and finished the season in the ECHL with the Utah Grizzlies. He stayed in San Diego the following year (35 appearances, .921), but his best year was the 2018/19 season: as a starting goalie, he made the playoffs with the Gulls (save percentage of .920), and also made five appearances in the NHL for the first time in an Anaheim jersey (.928). In his debut in the world's top league, he immediately managed a shutout by saving all 35 shots of the Vancouver Canucks. The year after was his last in San Diego (.911): in the past AHL season Boyle defended the goal of the Grand Rapids Griffins, an organisation of the Detroit Red Wings. In total, the new HCB goalkeeper made 136 appearances in the second North American league with an average .913 save percentage.

"I have great expectations," explains Boyle, "I've only been told positive things about the club and the area and I'm looking forward to the adventure in a new part of the world: it's a dream come true for me and my family. So far I have only been to Europe once, for me it is a great challenge and my enthusiasm is boundless. My goal is to support the team as much as possible, to win as many games as possible, in the regular season, in the playoffs and in the Champions Hockey League".
