Thursday’s Alps Hockey League schedule features several crucial matchups between teams that sit close together in the standings. The battle for Top-5 positions is intensifying. While the EK Zeller Eisbären and Migross Asiago aim to protect their direct playoff spots, the Rittner Buam SkyAlps and S.G. Cortina are preparing fresh pushes toward the upper half of the table.

HDD Jesenice vs. Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan
Jesenice hosts the Wipptal Broncos in a clash of direct standings rivals, with both teams currently tied on points in 11th and 12th place. The winner will remain within striking distance of the league’s mid-table group. Jesenice enters the matchup in slightly better form: the Broncos have dropped their last eight games, while the Slovenians picked up two shootout wins in their previous five outings – including the first head-to-head meeting of the season just under three weeks ago.

EK Zeller Eisbären vs. Rittner Buam SkyAlps
There is also little separation between the Zeller Eisbären and the Rittner Buam, though the advantage lies with Zell, who sit five points ahead and have played two fewer games. Ritten needs results against Top-5 teams to stay competitive in the race for direct playoff qualification. Their last win against a higher-ranked opponent dates back to October 2 (a 4:3 victory over the Red Bull Hockey Juniors). Zell, meanwhile, has won three straight and occupies fourth place. This is the first meeting between the two teams this season.

Hockey Unterland Cavaliers vs. HC Gherdeina valgardena.it
Unterland hosts Gherdeina in a matchup where both teams desperately need points. The Cavaliers sit last in the standings, while Gherdeina ranks tenth but remains close to the mid-table group. Both clubs are riding losing streaks: Gherdeina has gone four games without a point, and Unterland has dropped five straight.

S.G. Cortina Hafro vs. HC Migross Asiago
Asiago has climbed into the direct playoff positions in recent weeks but saw their four-game winning streak snapped in a shootout loss to Zell. The Yellow-Reds now travel to Cortina looking to solidify their Top-5 position. Cortina sits eighth, seven points back of the direct playoff spots, and would rejoin that race with a home win. Asiago won the first meeting of the season 4–2 in October.

HC Meran/o Pircher vs. Red Bull Hockey Juniors
League leaders Red Bull Hockey Juniors head to Merano after stringing together three convincing wins. Merano, who sits ninth, has suffered back-to-back losses. However, the South Tyroleans stunned the Juniors in their first matchup of the season, earning a 3–2 overtime win in September thanks to Tommaso Traversa’s game-winner.
