EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel advanced to the quarterfinals of the Alps Hockey League for the first time ever on Thursday, as the Tyroleans won a closely contested second pre-playoff duel at SHC Fassa Falcons 3-1 and clinched the second win of the "best-of-3" series necessary for playoff qualification. Marco Pewal's team used their first powerplay to take the lead, Patrick Bolterle (15./PP1) scored. Fassa's equalizer at the beginning of the second period was answered by Sandis Zolmanis with his third goal and eighth scoring point in the fifth game (3G|5A). The "Adler" carried this advantage over the time and added one more through Kevin Szabad's empty-netter.

Both teams of Vorarlberg tie series
The two Vorarlberg teams EHC Lustenau and EC Bregenzerwald have tied their pre-playoff series thanks to home wins, forcing a deciding game on Saturday. Lustenau prevailed against EK Die Zeller Eisbären with a commanding 4-1. Stefan Hrdina (20..) scored 55 seconds left in the first period to take the lead, two goals by Lenz Moosbrugger (28.) and Philipp Koczera (29.) midway through the game brought the preliminary decision. Goalie Rickard Hanses only had to concede one goal while shorthanded, saving 32 shots (97%) overall.

EC Bregenzerwald conjured up a brilliant comeback on the ice in Dornbirn's Messestadion: after two periods, the "Wälder" were trailing 0-2 before Roberts Lipsbergs (42.) started for the big catch-up. Julius Nyqvist (47.), again Lipsbergs (54.) and Julian Zwerger (56.) turned the game for the home team - but Jaako Jokinen (58.) still managed the equalizer. In the 5-on-5 overtime, Lipsbergs finally put the lid on the game with his third goal of the game. He recorded three goals and one assist.
