For Kitzbühel it was the first game without the Swedish twins Pontus and Linus Wernerson, whose contracts were terminated at their own request. In the first period both teams looked for the goal, but the goalies Paul Mocher (KEC) and Jacob Smith (GHE) were always on their toes - with a goalless draw it went into the first intermission. In the 27th minute Tobias Dinhopel, who only came to Kitzbühel on loan from Zell am See at the end of December, broke the deadlock. But only two minutes later Tim Linder equalised with his first goal of the season. The visitors responded to the hosts' renewed lead through Patrick Bolterle (35th) 40 seconds before the second siren. This time Patrick Nocker scored to make it 2:2. In the final period the Tyroleans finally set the course for victory in the power play: Adam Havlik scored a brace within two minutes to make it 4:2. When the South Tyroleans pulled their goalie for a sixth skater, Dinhopel made the final score 5:2. For Kitzbühel, who have won eight of nine AHL duels against the "Fury", it was the first home win since mid-November. The Tyroleans moved up to 14th in the standings, while the visitors suffered their second defeat in three days and remain in 13th place.
