On Friday spusu Vienna Capitals and EC-KAC went through to semis, the two other quarterfinal series will continue. Liwest Black Wings Linz forced a sixth game with their first season win in Graz and also Fehervar pulled one back thanks to an overtime victory.

The spusu Vienna Capitals had the better start into the game. After 65 seconds Marc-Andre Dorion missed his chance to open the scoring after a gorgeous combination. Just one minute later the capitals celebrated the first goal of the night, when Julian Großlercher scored with a massive shot. The capitals defended the lead in the first period very well and had a few tremendous chances to extend the lead. In the second period the guests started to play better but the capitals continued to dominate the game. After 60 seconds Emilio Romig scored a real beauty when he lobed the puck in. After being 2:0 down Znojmo had a big chance through Erik Nemec who dangled through the capitals defense but couldn`t beat JP Lamoureux. In the 32nd minute Riley Holzapfel extended the lead after a beautiful combination and made it 3:0. The Caps held the pressure high and scored another just 32 seconds before the end of the second period. Partick Peter scored the fourth of the night. In the last period the guests tried to avoid the loss but had no chance against great playing austrians. Nevertheless the guests were able to narrow the gap seven minutes before the end of the game. Vladimir Oscaldal made Znojmo believe again but Riley Holzapfel extended the lead again with 73 seconds to go. With his second of the night the capitals won their series against HC Orli Znojmo.

The Black Wings started very well and were able to open the score after 27 seconds. Brian Lebler made the guests celebrate. After a four minutes power play the 99ers started to play better. In the 11th minute Ty Loney equalized the game. Just within 28 seconds the hosts were able to turn the game around. A shot from Caito was deflected by Ograjensek who made it 2:1 for Graz. In a offensive and high paced game the guests tried to equalize and were rewarded a few minutes before the end of the first when DaSilva scored. In the second period the guests managed to take the lead when Schofield`s shot found the back of the net. Both teams found a few more chances but were not able to score. In the last period the 99ers played a four minutes powerplay but did not manage to score because of David Kickert`s big saves. The hosts held the pressure high but the Black Wings managed to defend their lead very well and finally won the game. With this win the Black Wings kept their chance for the semi finals alive.

In game five of the best of seven series between KAC and Bozen the guests opened the score with Ivan Deluca`s powerplay goal. Andrew Kozek and Siim Liivik had two big chances to equalize the game but did not manage to pot the puck in. Just before the end of the first period Mitch Wahl intercepted a pass from Bozen but missed the chance to score the equalizer. During the second period the hosts had plenty of good chances, caused through powerplay. But Smith managed to defend Bozen`s lead. Against the course of the game the Foxes scored the 2:0. Anton Bernard scored after Angelo Miceli`s pass. After 29 minutes played, David Fischer, the defenseman from Klagenfurt, narrowed the gap with his blueliner - 2:1. In minute 39 Adam Comrie equalized the game with his one timer. Just six seconds before the end of the second period Matthew Neal brought the lead to Klagenfurt for the first time of the night. The last period started like the second ended. KAC held the pressure high and Bozen defended. Against the course of the game the guests managed to score again. Michael Blunden made it 3:3 with a real beauty. Just 55 seconds after the alleged equalizer the hometeam took the lead again by Marcel Witting. 54 seconds before the end of the game Andrew Kozek finalised the score and ended Bozen‘s season.

Fehervar AV19 – EC Red Bull Salzburg 2:1 OT (1:1, 0:0, 0:0,1:0)

Fehervar had the better start and controlled the puck from the start. Szabo and Sarauer both missed right at the beginning then Michalek saved Wishart’s blueliner. 2 minutes later Vänttinen had a chance, the Salzburg goalie saved but he had no chance at Caruso’s shot. The answer was quick, Schiechl put the puck in Carruth’s net but the referees decided for no goal with the VGJ because of goalie interference. Salzburg pushed harder in the upcoming minutes, Trattnig could have tied the game then Wishart was penalized but the Hungarian defense and Carruth was confident. At the end of the period, O’Neill had to go in the penalty box, however, the guests scored shorthanded, Gazley had a clear shot from the left and he did not miss. Reisz fouled at the beginning of the second period, but Salzburg was unsuccessful five on four, then Koskiranta missed on a breakaway. Until the middle of the period, both teams had chances but no goal was scored. In the second half of the second 20 minutes, the game went on balanced, the period ended shorthanded for Fehervar but the Austrians could not score. The guests were the better team on ice at the beginning of the third period then Szita got a penalty but Carruth made big saves. The game became more physical, big hits and fights were typical in the next minutes. In the middle of the period, Erdely went on a breakaway but one of the Salzburg players fouled against him, Hari got the chance to try in a penalty shot but Michalek saved. Both teams did not manage to score anymore goals and so the game continued in overtime. The overtime did not last long, and Fehervar was the better team on ice, and in the 5th minte, Harty broke the ice and put the puck in the net.
