The hosts had the better of the play early in the game but during a power play the guests generated the best chances but Andrew Kozek (4'), Thomas Hundertpfund (5') and Matt Neal (6.) could not beat JP Lamoureux. Late in the period it was KAC goalie Lars Haugen who had some big saves and as a result the opening period ended goalless. After the restart the Caps came close to make the breakthrough but they missed twice from promising positions. At the halfway point of the game the guests broke the spell, though. Stefan Geier kept nerves in front of Lamoureux and only 123 seconds later Thomas Hundertpfund doubled it after a Petersen pass. The Caps tried everything in the third but Klagenfurt killed the clock successfully. With Lars Haugen's fourth postseason shutout, the Carinthians took the win.
