The EC-KAC got off a perfect start at Ukraine: Thomas Hundertpfund (5.) scored first with a wrist shot, only three minutes later the 31-year-old center doubled up. Klagenfurt dominated the first and added one more through Samuel Witting (19.). Then the home side got the upper hand, in the middle frame the CHL newcomer scored the first goal of the night – and until the 56th minute the Ukrainians could balance the game. But in the end the ICE-Champion stroke back: 76 seconds left, Johannes Bischofberger hit the game winner.

The EC-KAC remained without defeat in the fifth game of the group stage too and with 13 of 15 points is unassailable at the top of Pool G. The "Rotjacken" are in the round of 16 of the Champions Hockey League. For the first time – with EC Red Bull Salzburg and HCB Südtirol Alperia – all teams of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League are qualified for the knockout stage.
