Before the new season in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga kicks off Friday 13th, the EC-KAC and the spusu Vienna Capitals have to play another Champions Hockey League game. While Klagenfurt travels to Norwegian champion Frisk Asker, the Viennese stops by at Adler Mannheim (GER), which tops group F. Further, the last five preseason games are scheduled.

EC-KAC travels to bottom placed team Frisk Asker
The EC-KAC continues its road trip, as the Austrian side travels to Helsinki today, Saturday, taking the plane to Oslo. In Norway the “Rotjacken” take on reigning Norwegian champion Frisk Asker, which is ranked last in group A after three straight losses. After Klagenfurt got defeated by Tappara Tampere on Friday, it dropped to second place in standings. EHC Biel-Bienne (CH) is the unbeaten leader, three points ahead of the EC-KAC.

With Lars Haugen celebrating a shutout, the EC-KAC got a clear 3:0 home win in the first meeting with Frisk Asker. The Carinthinas has already the second-best scorer in their rank, as Matthew Neal got six points (4G | 2A). For now, Asker has the worst offensive available with only one goal each game.

Vienna will keep the momentum
After two losses on the opening Champions Hockey League weekend, the spusu Vienna Capitals stroke back, defeating Swedish record champion Djurgarden Stockholm in their rink 6:3. With the first points in this year’s campaign, the Viennese climbed to third place in group F. Upcoming opponent Adler Mannheim (GER) is top-placed, has eight points on the side, and could reach the next round with an other win against the Caps. In the first meeting the German side snatched up a 6:1 road win at Erste Bank Arena.

Nikolaus Hartl, forward VIC: “Now we have a complete new starting position in our group, are back in the game. We did not give up after the losses on the opening weekend and will connect to yesterday’s effort in Mannheim too.”

Sunday, September 8th, 4.00 pm: Adler Mannheim – spusu Vienna Capitals
Sunday, September 8th, 6.30 pm: Frisk Asker – EC-KAC

Last preseason gameday is on
At the same day of Champions Hockey League gameday four, five Erste Bank Eishockey Liga teams close their preseason campaign. Hydro Fehérvár AV19 hosts „IFJ Ocskay Gábor Emléktorna“, either playing HC Vitkovice (CZE) or HK Nitra (SVK). With HCB Südtirol Alperia a second team plays in their own rink, as the unbeaten South Tyrolean host Rittner Buam. Three more team take on German clubs, as the EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz travels to ERC Ingolstadt, while the HC TWK Innsbruck “Die Haie” plays again Straubing Tigers, after losing 2:4 on Friday. The EC Red Bull Salzburg hits the road at EC Bad Tölz.
