The tenth and last Pick Round has ended with victories for the spusu Vienna Capitals, Moser Medical Graz99ers and Fehervar AV19, that moved up to place 4 and earned home-ice-advantage in the Playoff Quarterfinals. Besides,  HC TWK Innsbruck „Die Haie“ and EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz have been successful in the Qualification Round. The Quarterfinals are as follows and will start on Wednesday, March 13th 2019:

spusu Vienna Capitals won their tenth and last match in the Pick Round as well and equalized the record of points in the Intermediate Round! The Capitals beat EC Red Bull Salzburg after a goal-festival 6:5 after Shoot Out at home on Sunday and finished the Pick Round with 32 points. The Mozart Citizens started better and got a quick 2:0 and 3:1 lead after 16 minutes. But, the Caps showed character and were the chiefs on the ice then. And the home-team turned the game with four goals netted by Nissner (18.), Romig /23.), DeSousa (38.) and Nödl (38.) – 5:3. DeSousa just hit the post early in period 3. So, Salzburg was still alive. Raffl and Harris from a short distance tied the game. The match has finally been decided in Shoot Out, where Nissner and Schneider were successful for the spusu Vienna Capitals. Spusu Vienna Capitals finished the Pick Round on first place, while EC Red Bull Salzburg fell in the ranking to place 5. Spusu Vienna Capitals have picked HC Orli Znojmo as their opponet for the Quarterfinals and EC Red Bull Salzburg will start the Playoffs in Szekesfehrvar.

Fehervar AV19 won their third season-game in Klagenfurt on Sunday as well. The Devils were successful 3:2 and moved up in the ranking of the Pick Round to place 4. The Hungarians opponent in the Quarterfinals will be EC Red Bull Salzburg. The best of seven series will start in Hungary on Wednesday. EC-KAC  has chosen HCB Südtirol Alperia as their opponent in the Quarterfinals. Fehervar A19 has arrived with just three lines in Klagenfurt. The Hungarians started with Daniel Kornakker, who made a good job and had 32 saves, in the net. Klagenfurt took the lead in a Power Play in period 1, but B. Szabo (23.), Sarpatki (25.) and D. Szabo (40.) turned the game with three goals – 3:1. Klagenfurt responded with the 2:3 netted by Schumnig just moments later, but the Devils defended their lead in the last 20 minutes.

Moser Medical Graz99ers beat HCB Südtirol Alperia 6:3. The Styrians searched their luck in the offense and got a 4:1-lead after 40 minutes. The Foxes showed character in period 3 and came back with two goals from Deluca (44., big shot) and Schweitzer (49., counter) – 4:3. The Foxes tried to equalize, but without success. On the other side, Oberkofler and King netted two more goals in the final minutes. The Styrians have chosen EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz as their opponent in the Quarterfinals, HCB Südirol Alperia will start the Playoffs in Klagenfurt.

HC TWK Innsbruck „Die Haie“ finished their season with a 5:2-win in Znojmo. The Austrians played very effective and netted five goals from just 16 shots. The Tyroleans decided the game early in the game. After goals netted by Sedivy (6.), Lavoie (12./pp), Clark (13.) and Yogan (21.) or Hlava (13./pp), the guests were leading 4:1 in Znojmo after just 21 minutes. On the other side, the „Red Eagles“ were stopped most times by goalie Rene Swette, who had 36 saves. The Czechs finished the Qualification Round on place 2 and will start the Playoffs in Vienna on Wednesday. HCI moved up to place 3, but the Sharks season is over.

EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz beat EC Panaceo VSV 4:3 and has won Qualification Round. The Upper Austrians got a 2:0-lead, but the Eagles showed character and turned the game with goals from Pollastrone and Alagic (2x) – 3:2. The Upper Austrians responded with offensiv-power in the final minutes and managed a win thanks late goals potted by Umicevic (58.) and Locke (59). EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz will start the Playoffs in Graz on Wednesday, while Villach has finished their season with a defeat in Linz today.
