On Thursday, the leader Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan remain unbeaten after a 5:2 home-win against the Steel Wings Linz. Some further personal efforts were determining for wins, as S.G. Cortina Hafro remains unbeaten too thanks to a hat trick of Remy Giftopoulos, Adam Havlik’s five-point-game in EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel’s managed a 6:3 home-win and Kevin Lindskoug’s shutout gave the Rittner Buam a 5:0 road-win. Moreover, SHC Fassa Falcons won the “Derby Landino”.

Armin Hofer again hits the game-winner
Like past season’s decisive game five in the semifinal series, Armin Hofer secured a victory for HC Pustertal Wölfe against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. Wolve’s captain hit the game-winner three minutes left on powerplay, to give his colors a 4:1 road win in Slovenia, after the duel was tied at one after the first frame. Raphael Andergassen and Markus Gander rounded off the score with an empty netter each, giving the vice-champion its third season win. Jesenice lost for the second time in a row.

EK „Die Zeller“ Eisbären keep momentum
The EK „Die Zeller“ Eisbären kept their momentum and snatched up a clear 7:3 road-win against Vienna Capitals Silver, which lost their third home game, while the polar bears secured three points for the second time in a row. Tomi Wilenius and Franz Wilfan – both posted a brace and one assist too – cleared the battle for the guests, which had a huge impact of netminder Dominik Frank (save percentage of 92,3% | 39/36) too. 19-year-old talent Benjamin Lanzinger, who played for Villach in the past Erste Bank Eishockey Liga season, collected four points (1G | 3A).

Kitzbühel remains unbeaten at home
The EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel remains unbeaten in home-games, after winning against EC Bregenzerwald 6:3, which got its fourth defeat and remains pointless in the current season, cause of struggling again on the defensive-end. With three unanswered goals the hosts decided the game on an early stage, leading 3:0 after two frames. In the end Adam Havlik, who scored the game-winner too, had a five-point-game (2G | 3A).

Giftopoulos hat trick gives Cortina road-win
Remy Giftopoulos’ hat trick gave S.G. Cortina Hafro finally a clear 5:2 road-win against EC-KAC II. With its fourth straight win Cortina remains unbeaten in the running Alps Hockey League season and stays on third spot in standings, while the Austrian side got the fourth consecutive loss. The decision for the guests was made in the last four minutes, as Cortina scored three times. Kevin King retook the lead for the third-ranked team and two more goals of Giftopoulos made it clear in the end.

Ritten convinces on powerplay
The Rittner Buam convinced on powerplay, scoring four out of their five goals five-on-four and they cheered a 5:0 victory at VEU Feldkirch. It was Kevin Lindskoug’s first shutout this season, after having 28 saves in total. With their fourth season win the South Tyrolean remain second in standings and they outlined their offensive potential, being the first team scoring 30 goals. Ritten led 2:0 after the first and got the preliminary decision with three more goals in the last. Matthew Lane collected a brace.

Broncos remains five from five
The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan got the fifth straight win in the fifth game, after the leader defeated league’s newcomer Steel Wings Linz 5:2. The Austrian side lost the fourth game too, but for the first time they scored two goals. As Linz took the lead after a non-goal opening frame, the leader with two goals within 22 seconds. After the guests tied it up again, the Broncos decided the game with three straight goals in the final period, two scored on powerplay.

Fassa wins “Derby Landino”
After a 4:1 road-win the SHC Fassa Falcons won the first “Derby Landino” against HC Gherdeina valgardena.it in the new Alps Hockey League season. It was Fassa’s second derby-win over Gherdeina in AHL history. After a non-goal opening frame, the “falcons” took the lead with two goals within three minutes about halfway through the second. While Sullmann Pilser pulled one back in the second, the guests got the preliminary decision with two powerplay-goals in the final frame.
