In the discussion round - which was attended by league president Jochen Pildner-Steinburg, spusu Vienna Capitals manager Franz Kalla and league managing director Christian Feichtinger - possible framework conditions for a 2020/21 season were discussed, taking into account the best possible health protection. On the basis of the detailed "Return to Play" concept, which was drawn up in compliance with all requirements of the authorities, an important course was set for a season start on 25th of September 2020. While on the sporting level only details for a professional implementation are still missing, innovative solutions are to be jointly developed in questions of possible spectator capacities. A next round of talks with all meeting participants is already planned for next week.

"The talks were very constructive and showed great understanding for our situation. We got the feeling that everything is being done to support us both economically and in terms of sports. The politicians want to make a 2020/21 season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League possible and not prevent it. Now it is all about good as well as unified regulations for all clubs and the timely realization of these processes. The aim is to work with the ministry to implement an exemplary and responsible corona management concept," says league president Jochen Pildner-Steinburg with confidence.

Health minister Rudolf Anschober: "Of course, indoor sports with a lot of physical contact and many fans are difficult. Health protection is therefore, as everywhere else, the focus of attention in ice hockey. As with the agreement on a special concept for the organisation of the Austrian Football League, which we see as a model project for team sports, I hope that we will also succeed here with a very specific regulation with a high level of protection. A constructive initial discussion makes me optimistic that this could succeed. But there are still important questions to be clarified."
