With nine out of nine possible points, the Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel are currently top of the table. With 18 goals scored and only four goals conceded, the Tyroleans have made a strong start to the season both offensively and defensively. Last Saturday, they won the derby against Zell am See by with 5:2. The EC Bregenzerwald have five points after three games and are sixth in the table. The Vorarlberg team has been up against Slovenian teams in all of their encounters so far. Bregenzerwald lost twice to the 2023 AHL champion, Jesenice, after overtime and shootout. Bregenzerwald also clearly defeated Celje 6:2 away from home last Sunday. ECB won both encounters against Kitzbühel last season and seven of the last ten duels overall.

Both EK Die Zeller Eisbären and HK RST Pellet Celje had not the best start to the season. While Zell am See started the campaign with one win from three games, Celje are still waiting for their first points. The “Polar Bears” won their first game 3:1 against Unterland, but were then beaten by Ritten (1:3) and Kitzbühel (2:5). Celje lost to Sterzing (2:5), the Juniors (2:3) and Bregenzerwald (2:6). In the head-2-head, Zell am See prevailed in both duels last season (4:2, 6:1).

Defending champion Ritten, who are in fourth place in the table with six points, host the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. The team in fifth place is also on six points, but has already played one more game. Last weekend, Ritten turned a 0:3 against Unterland into a 4:3/OT victory. Two days earlier, they beat Zell am See 3:1. Marco Insam impressed in both games. With three goals and one assist, the 35-year-old was named top performer of the week. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors have so far only won against Celje in regulation, but have also only suffered one defeat in regulation, this was a clear 1:8 against league leader Kitzbühel. Last season, Ritten and Salzburg faced each other four times, with the “Buam” winning all duels.

There are also two Italian matches on Thursday. HC Gherdeina valgardena.it will host the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers and S.G. Cortina Hafro will face the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Val Gardena is still pointless and has already conceded 17 goals and scored just three. The Cavaliers have not started the season much better. They are in eleventh place with two points. However, the team from Neumarkt has twice let a 3:0 lead slip away.

Last year's finalist Cortina have only played twice, picking up four points in the process. Sterzing has one point more than Cortina, with three games played this season. Last season, the two teams faced each other six times in all competitions. Cortina won four games, including both Serie A semi-finals.
