The Rittner Buam SkyAlps beat S.G. Cortina Hafro 5:0 in the last game of the Alps Hockey League before Christmas and thus gave themselves the perfect Christmas present. With 59 points, the South Tyroleans already have a 17-point lead over seventh Jesenice five matchdays before the end of the Regular Season and can therefore no longer be displaced from the Top-6. Ritten is therefore the first Playoff participant in the 2023/24 season.

For long stretches, it was a duel of the same level against Cortina. Although Ritten took the lead in the fourth minute in the powerplay, it was a narrow 1:0 lead until the 42nd minute before the Buam scored again in the powerplay. Max Coatta and Marco Insam were the goal scorers. Terrance Amorosa increased the lead to 3:0 in the 53rd minute, which was also the only goal in five-on-five. The goals to make it 4:0 and 5:0 from Simon Kostner and Markus Spinell were again powerplay goals. Ritten goalie Colin Furlong was able to save all 33 shots on his goal and thus celebrated his second shutout in a row and his third shutout of the season. On Thursday, Ritten won the top game against Zell am See 3:0. Overall, it was the thirteenth win from the last 14 games for the league leader, who is six points ahead of Zell am See with 59 points at Christmas. Cortina is in fifth place with 44 points, just two points ahead of seventh-placed Jesenice.
