In the next few days eight Erste Bank Eishockey Liga teams continue their preseason with HC Orli Znojmo playing even three games at a tournament in Slovakia.
On Wednesday HC Bolzano plays this season's first home game at Palaonda when HC Pustertal comes to town in the first game of Alperia Cup. Last year the foxes suffered a tight 3:2 overtime defeat against the Alps Hockey League side but still won the tournament. At the weekend the EBEL champion opens his second Champions Hockey League campaign with home games against Swedish side Skelleftea AIK (Friday) and IFK Helsinki from Finland (Sunday).
Three friendlies in Slovenia
On Wednesday EC Panaceo VSV is in preseason action, too. The Carinthians face Stavanger Oilers, the game is being played in Maribor/Slovenia. The day after the Norwegians cross sticks with EC-KAC at the same venue. Last summer these two teams already met with Klagenfurt getting a 3:2 overtime win.
On Thursday Moser Medical Graz99ers also travel to Slovenia, where they meet Finnish Liiga club KooKoo in Bled. The Styrians have won their last two friendlies with earning a 1:0 shutout victory against Augsburg on Friday. Dornbirn Bulldogs hit the road for German Füssen where they play EHC Olten from Switzerland. In last year's preseason meeting the NLB club got a 3:2 win.
Znojmo takes part in Tatra Cup
After having four preseason games against Czech Extraliga clubs, HC Orli Znojmo takes part in Tatra Cup in Poprad/Slovakia. In their opening game on Thursday, the Eagles face HC Košice who has already beaten Klagenfurt and Graz this preseason. In Friday's second game Znojmo faces Gap Hockey Club from France, before having their placement game on Sunday.
With HC TWK Innsbruck and Liwest Black Wings Linz two Austrian clubs are also playing on Friday. The Tirolese host ESV Kaufbeuren in a return game after beating them 5:4 last Friday. The Upper Austrians visit German Oberliga club Starbulls Rosenheim, though.
