HC Falkensteiner Pustertal and Olimpija Ljubljana both started the new win2day ICE Hockey League season with commanding 8:1 victories and now sit together at the top of the standings. Nick Hutchinson scored the opening goal of the 2025/26 season during EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV’s 4:2 road win against league newcomer FTC-Telekom.
HC Falkensteiner Pustertal dominated in Innsbruck, cruising to an 8:1 triumph. The visitors led 2:0 after the first period and pulled away to 6:1 in the second. New signings Cole Bardreau and Henry Bowlby each recorded a hat trick.
Olimpija Ljubljana also delivered an 8:1 win. Although the Slovenians fell behind early against the Vienna Capitals, they quickly took control in front of their home crowd. Evan Polei, Robert Sabolic, and TJ Brennan each scored twice.
EC-KAC was the only team to record a shutout on the opening night. Goaltender Sebastian Dahm was unbeatable in the 4:0 win over Hydro Fehérvár AV19, while Simeon Schwinger, Tobias Sablattnig, Nick Petersen, and Matt Fraser provided the goals.
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz also celebrated a clear home win, racing to a 4:0 lead after just 27 minutes against Pioneers Vorarlberg. In the end, the Upper Austrians secured a 5:2 victory, with captain Brian Lebler scoring twice.
Nick Hutchinson had the honor of netting the very first goal of the new win2day ICE Hockey League season. The VSV newcomer struck just 70 seconds into the away game against FTC-Telekom. The Carinthians laid the foundation for their 4:2 victory with three first-period goals.
HCB Südtirol Alperia and EC Red Bull Salzburg engaged in a hard-fought battle. The reigning champion turned the game around in the second period and ultimately edged out a 4:3 win. New arrival Travis St. Denis scored twice on his league debut.
