Release from 12.03.2021
On Thursday, HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana secured the first place in the second phase of the regular season with a clear victory over VEU Feldkirch. Migross Supermercati Asiago, meanwhile, clinched the fourth and final "early" quarterfinal ticket. The Rittner Buam and HC Gherdeina were able to secure the pre-playoffs with narrow victories.
Asiago is in the quarterfinals
Migross Supermercati posted a 5-2 win at visiting EC KAC II to book the fourth and final early ticket to the quarterfinals. EC-KAC II, on the other hand, had to bury their hopes for the pre-playoffs after the defeat. The targeted twelfth place is now out of reach. For Asiago it was already the fourth win in a row. However, the success against Klagenfurt had to be hard fought for. Klagenfurt first took the lead in the eighth minute before the yellow-reds went ahead. The young KAC equalized in the final period, but conceded three more goals in the last eleven minutes of the game.
Broncos open door to pre-playoffs
The WSV Sterzing Broncos recorded a clear 6:1 away win at the Steel Wings Linz and took another big step towards the pre-playoffs. The lead on rank 13 is now six points. Already in the first period the Broncos took a 3:0 lead. The visitors even doubled their lead in the second period, although the Linz team also created numerous chances. In the final period, the Linzers managed to score a consolation goal. Markus Gander celebrated a hat trick for the Broncos.
Ritten solves ticket for Pre-Playoffs
The Rittner Buam won the duel against EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel with 3:2 and thus secured a place in the pre-playoffs. In addition, the Buam succeeded in an important step to a possible home right. Until the 24th minute, however, the Eagles initially took a 2:1 lead. However, a brace from Markus Spinell finally ensured the Buam's decision.
Ljubljana fixes first place in phase 2
HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated a clear 9:0 victory over VEU Feldkirch and thus fixed the first place in phase 2. The Slovenians thus not only secured a home right to a possible final, but thereby also conquered the first right to choose the quarterfinal opponent. Feldkirch, on the other hand, cannot yet be completely sure of its participation in the pre-playoffs. Currently, however, the lead over 13th place is still a comfortable eight points. Ziga-Pance and Marc-Ollivier Vallerand each scored a double for the league leaders.
One goal is enough for Jesenice to win
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over SHC Fassa Falcons to take another step towards second place after Phase 2, with the Falcons throwing everything into the mix in desperate need of points for pre-playoff qualification. With three games to go, the Falcons are currently six points off the all-important twelfth spot. The only goal of the match was scored by Saso Rajsar in the 19th minute. After that, the two goalies could not be overcome.
Gherdeina fixes pre-playoffs with spectacular comeback
HC Gherdeina fixed the pre-playoffs with a spectacular comeback win against Red Bull Hockey Juniors. Red Bull Hockey Juniors suffered the second defeat in a row and could not regain the fifth place. However, the Juniors seemed to have the game firmly under control after an early deficit. Salzburg built a 4-1 lead by the 33rd minute and held it until six minutes from the end. But then the Gherdeina express got going. Three goals in just under five minutes still put the hosts in overtime. After a scoreless overtime Bradley McGowan provided the decision.
