Lustenau and Asiago with position wins at beginning of master round

The EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau and Asiago Hockey booked a successful start into the master round. The Rittner Buam started in the second phase where they ended in regular season and increased the lead. In the qualification round A Bregenzerwald surprised against S.G. Cortina, the leader of the group. Also HC Gherdeina succeeded with a position win against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. In the only game of qualification Round B the HC Neumarkt won against the EC Kitzbühel.

HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice – EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau 2:4
Jesenice and Lustenau are old acquaintances, and both of the teams entered in match very aggressively. Therefore, the action followed one after another. The central role went to the goalies Žan Us and Patrick Machreich. Steelers have missed the first chance of two more players on the ice, but they come to lead after new power play, when Eric Pance scored a point. Lustenau chased the equalizer, first they missed opportunity in power play, but Maximilian Wilfan did gave a goal in another power play. If the tempo of first part of the match was dictated by Jesenice, Lustenau dictated the tempo in the second period. Peter Vala did made the first move toward the goal, but Sebastjan Hadžič; the newcomer at domestic team returned to him. The visiting team made an counterattack at the middle of the match, and Philipp Winzig did not had a hard work to lead his team to lead. Jesenice tried to equalized, and in 39 minutes of the match, Sašo Rajser make sure to delight the home team. But only for a minute, as Jesenice afford the hard foul, and Gatis Gricinskis change the foul of Jesenice in leadership of Lustenau. In the last period was everything about deciding on the winner. The tough fight continued, the nervousness was escalating. Jesenice were more dangerous, but inaccurate. When Luka Kalan hit the bare, the guests moved into counterattack and guests have with the goal of Winzig decided the winner. The pressure of domestic team did not deliver anything, even without a goalkeeper and an extra attacker, there was no change of the outcome and Lustenau rejoiced deserved victory. 
 
Rittner Buam – FBI VEU Feldkirch 6:1
After winning the second consecutive italian Scudetto – Serie A in Asiago on last Sunday, the Rittner Buam, leaders of the Sky Alps Hockey League, challenged the FBI VEU Feldkirch. Rittner Riku- Petteri Lehtonen, coach of home team, tonight had to renunce 3 player: Kevin Fink, Christoph Vigl and Johannes Fauster. The "Buam" started immediately in the attack, creating good scoring chances, but the former goalkeeper of Neumarkt, Milan and Cortina, Alex Caffi, was very ready as he stopped the forwards of Klobstein team. So, the first period ended without goals.
At the beginning of the middle period the home side he took the lead. Max Ploner used a Janis Sprukts assists for the first goal of the match. For Ploner was the first goal of the season. At 33.21 the Feldkirch made the draw with topscorer Dylan Stanley. The result after two period was in tie (1:1). The game changed in the last part of third period when the “Buam” imposed their rhythm. When missing 13 minutes at the end of third period, Tommaso Traversa scored the new advantage and after two minutes the Rittner Buam made the third goal with Andreas Alber. Max Ploner realized his personal brace and after just 57 seconds Ivan Tauferer marked another goal in double superiority for 5:1. The last goal was built from  Victor Ahlström. The Renon won this important match for 6:1 as they confirmed their supremacy. 4 goals of this night was made from defense player. 
 
HC Pustertal Wölfe – Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1:2 
 The two teams meet again after a few days. On Saturday in Asiago, the home team beat Wolves 3-1 in the semi-final game to reach the Scudetto of italian Serie A. This evening the host formation was no capacity for Kris Kolanos and Andrea Strazzabosco. In the first period the Pustertal team played with four lines as they tried to approach the net of Frederic Cloutier but without success while the Asiago responded with the fast action. The visiting team was dangerous with trio Scandella- Long-Nigro. The pace was already the playoffs but the first period ended without goals. During the second period the Pustertal was stronger and played better but couldn’t overcome the careful defense of visitors. During the third period the game literally took off. The hosts found the advantage with Lukas Tauber after 50 'minute, with the complicity of the defense of Asiago. When missing just 10 minutes on the clock there was a big reaction of Asiago. The equalizer signed it less than two minutes after Magnabosco scored a powerplay , assisted by Stevan and Tessari. Three and a half minutes later came the first made the second goal and changed the history of the match. Scandella served Nigro that scored the advantage of yellow-red team. The Pustertal played the card of the extra attacker but without results. Important victory of Asiago as they climbed the ranking of Master Round. The Wolves lost the contact with first position after the victory of Rittner Buam against VEU. 
 
EC Bregenzerwald – S.G. Cortina 6:4
The team of EC Bregenzerwald started with high concentration and took the lead after a bit more than two minutes by Putnik. Cortina was a bit surprised tried to stop Bregenzerwald with fouls. During double power play Christian Ban succeeded in scoring the second goal for his team. Also Cortina had some good chances, but Misa Pietilä did a good job in saving. In the second period the guests shifted one gear up. After only 18 seconds Moser succeeded with the first goal for his team. After that Christian Ban scored his second goal of the night. Only two minutes later the made the hattrick. In the last period it was again Cortina who scored the first goal. In the 42nd minute Brace even narrowed the gap to 3:4.So everything was prepared for an exciting end. Than it was again the captain Christian Ban who scored for the home team with a penalty shot. But it was not the decision yet, De Biasio recreated the 1 goal difference. The decision for Bregenzerwald was made during a shorthanded situation, when Kauppila scored the 6:4 in the 58th minute.
 
HC Neumarkt Riwega – EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel 3:0 
HC Neumarkt Riwega started the Qualification Round with the absence of Matteo Peiti. The match against Kitzbühel was just very hard and fought from the first second. The two teams played also a physical game. Minute after minutes Neumarkt grew. In the middle they hit the post and then played a long time in powerplay. Near to the end of the first period the Wild Goose took the lead in double powerplay. Ratislav Gaspar served a good assist to Linus Lundstrom that realized in the open net. During the second period always there was a very intense match. The Eagles grew more but couldn’t overcome the Wild Goose defense. The home team doubled after 24': Linus Lundstrom entered in the opponent's defensive zone and then left the puck at Gaspar Ratislav that scored with a medium distance shot. During the final of the 2th period the game was always fought but Neumarkt kept the lead (2:0). During the third period the Neumarkt controlled the game and closed well the austrian team. Kitzbühel had some difficulty in organizing an answer. Once again it was crucial the swedish player Linus Lundstrom. The forward served a perfect assist from behind the net for Martin Graf. The young player scored the first goal in Sky Alps Hockey League, after 47 minutes of the match. The games ended with the victory of home team for 3:0. With this win the Wild Geese confirmed in 2nd place in Group B qualifying behind Zell am See. Daniel Morandell celebrated his second shutout of the season.
 
HC Gherdeina valgardena.it – Red Bull Hockey Juniors 5:1 
The home started the match without the injured Fabrizio Senoner, while the Salzburg side was in Wolkstein with whole team. The two teams played the first minutes of the game with a playoff intensity. The first chance was on the stick of home team. Soon after there was the answer of guest that they put a lot of pressure but they didn’t succeed. Derek Eastman made the first goal of the night: the austrian gooalkeeper was unprepared after a shot from distance (6’). The continuation of the game was pleasant and conducted with a good rhythm. There were also some mistakes in both difensive zone but the “gifts” was not exploited by the two attacks. When missing one minute of the end of the period, Josef Straka realized the second goal with a trick. In the middle the "Red Bulls" changed the rythm as they should score. After 23 minutes Lukas Kainz reduced the deficit surprising Gianluca Vallini under the leg. HCG took a few minutes to regrouped, then it was dangerous with Gabriel Vinatzer and usually Josef Straka. Even Salzburg was with a lot of power so that the game remained very pleasant. After the middle game Brendan Ellis scored the 3:1 after a fast counterattacck. Shortly after Derek Eastman made the fourth goal against  Salzburg . Even a time-out couldn’t shake the guests:  before the 2th break Gabriel Vinatzer scored 5:1. During the third time the race was always open but the Gherdeina could control up to the end with the victory 5-1. Gherdeina earns a big victory as they overcame the Red Bull in the ranking of Qualification Round – Group A. The Fury won their seventh consecutive victory and now was totally back in the fight for the playoffs. The Wolkstein team was behind Cortina by one point. Cortina lost in Dornbirn against the Bregenzerwald.
