David Planko redeems Jesenice in overtime
The "best-of-five" semifinal series between HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey could hardly be more exciting. After Jesenice's success in the opening game, the Yellow-Reds first earned the match puck for the final with two wins in a row. However, Jesenice now bounced back with a spectacular 3-2 overtime win to force a deciding fifth game on Saturday. Asiago got off to the better start and took the lead through playoff top scorer Alex Frei in the fourth minute. Jesenice got into the game better after that and managed to equalize in the 25th minute through Saso Rajsar after a couple of chances. The game went into what was supposed to be the final period at 1-1, with the 2018 champions again leading the way. Steven McParland put his team already with one foot in the final with the 2:1 in the 47th minute. But the Slovenians kept their nerves and equalized in person of Najc Stojan in the 54th minute. In overtime, the yellow-reds were closer to the game-winner at the beginning. However, Jesenice goalkeeper Zan Us did not want to end the season yet and kept his team in the game. Finally, in the 75th minute, Davind Planko outplayed the Asiago defense and netted from the half-right to make it 3-2. This gives Jesenice a chance to make the first AHL final in its club history on Saturday.

Lustenau forces decisive game five
EHC Lustenau manages to surprise the reigning champions again. After the 2-1 success on Tuesday, the Vorarlberg team followed it up on Thursday against HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana, forcing a decisive fifth game in the "best-of-five" semifinal series. Inspired by Tuesday's success, Lustenau started the game with a lot of spirit. The effort was rewarded and Martin Grabher Meier put the hosts in front in the tenth minute. However, the regular season winners struck back in the first period in the person of defender Juuso Pulli. In the following two periods, Lustenau goalkeeper Anthony Morrone was particularly convincing. The 22-year-old Canadian shone with spectacular saves and could not be beaten. After a goalless second period, the Austrians took their chance in powerplay. The only 21-year-old Latvian Renars Krkls provided the game-winner in the 50th minute. The Slovenians still pressed for the equalizer, but Morrone held on to the victory for Lustenau and was mainly responsible for the renewed success with a saving percentage of 97.6%. Already on Saturday, the decisive fifth semifinal match will be played in Ljubljana.
