Lustenau moves up to third place

On Thursday EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau took revenge on Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan with a 4:1 road win. In the second game of the day Fassa Falcons earned their first ever Alps Hockey League win against Asiago, beating the reigning champions after penalties.

The start of the game was in favor of the Lustenau which, however, didn’t create dangerous actions. The match then rised in tone with the two formations that began to build truly insidious actions. At this point the goal was in the air and came from the Austrian stick of David Kreuter who scored with a shot from the blue in the middle of traffic (14 '). The first period ended with the slightest advantage of Lustenau. In the second period happened everything and more with three goals in just over three minutes. After just 22 seconds Matthias Mantinger signed the draw of the Broncos. But the guest’s answer was immediate. In just over 132 seconds Daniel Oberscheider (counterattack 3vs2) and Marc-Oliver Vallerand (in powerplay with a precise shot under the crossbar) allowed the Lustenau to reach 3:1. The home team was not in the great evening and Gianluca Vallini saved the results. Only in the final the Broncos pushed but Maris Jucers performed a real miracle. In the third time the Broncos tried to return in the game but the Austrians contolled and then they fixed the final score on the 4:1 thanks to Stefan Hrdina's goal when missig one second from the end of the match. With this victory the Lustenau climbed in third position. The Sterzing lost its first home game at regular time as they found the second consecutive defeat for 4:1.

In the recovery game the Fassa couldn’t dispose Luca Zandonella (suspended) and Sebastiano Soracreppa and Davide Schiavone (both in the Italian National Team Under 20). The game was immediately fought with actions on one side and the other of the rink. Davide Dal Sasso opened the scoring with a speed shot that lighted Hewitt at the intersection (2 '). But Fassa keept the control as they well-played the game until the draw of Martin Gran who scored during the first powerplay in the favor of the home team (14.). Even the second half was very rich for actions and emotions. Martin Gran performed a personal action as he took the Falcons ahead after just 42 seconds of play. But the Asiago has other plans for the game: first Anthony Bardaro (25 '/ in the scrum) and then Michele Marchetti (28' /slapshot) allowed to take in advantage of a series of penalties against the home team. But tonight, the hosts are very determined and shortly after Andre Vigl made the draw at the end of an insistent action in powerplay. This partial (3:3) then lasted until the end of the third time. During the overtime, Fassa made a sensational chance but they didn’t succeed. Then on the shutout it was decisive that of Karl Ostman that allowed the Fassa to return to victory for 4:3 with an amazing result.
