The EHC Lustenau moved up to the third place in the Alps Hockey League with a win at the EK Die Zeller Eisbären. The Rittner Buam, on the other hand, slipped to fourth place after a surprising 1:4 away loss at the EC-KAC Future Team. HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, who won with 4:3 after shootout over the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, remain at the top of the table. Second-placed Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey and bottom-placed Vienna Capitals Silver celebrated clear home victories. League newcomer HC Meran/o ended a five-game losing streak in Cortina.
Jesenice defeats Young Bulls
League leader HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice celebrated a tough 4:3 home win after shootout against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. It was the third consecutive win in the AHL for Jesenice, who scored all their goals in the first period. The Young Bulls conceded their fifth loss from the past six games. In the penalty shootout, it was Eetu Elo who scored the deciding penalty. Out of the game, league top scorer Eric Pance, Jesperi Viikila and Saso Rajsar scored the goals for the Slovenians.
Asiago moves closer to Jesenice
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey gave the EC Die Adler Kitzbühel no chance in a 4:1 home win and reduced the gap to league leader Jesenice to two points. Daniel Mantenuto was the player of the game with a hat trick. For the center it was the first hat trick this season. For Kitzbühel it was the second defeat in a row. The Tyrolean team, for which Raivo Freidenfelds scored the only goal shortly before the end of the game, is in eighth place in the table.
KAC Future-Team surprises Ritten
The EC-KAC Future Team celebrated a surprising 4:1 home victory over the fourth-placed Rittner Buam. The Klagenfurt team thus moved to within three points to the South Tyroleans, but have already played five games more than Ritten. The guests took the lead in the thirteenth minute of the game through a goal by Alex Frei. After that, however, it was the home side that set the tone. After 28 minutes of play, they led with 3:1. The final goal was scored by Rok Kapel in the 44th minute of play. The Slovenian also scored to make it 1:1 in the meantime. For KFT it was the first win in the second match of the season against the "Buam". On September 25th, Ritten kept the upper hand with 4:2.
Lustenau wins in Zell am See
The EHC Lustenau also won the second duel of the season against the EK Die Zeller Eisbären. The team from Vorarlberg won with 3:1 in Zell am See in front of almost 1500 spectators and underlined their strong form. For the new third in the table it was already the third success in a row. EKZ lost for the first time after three victories en suite and are in sixth place in the table. Man of the match was Lustenau newsigning Remy Giftopoulos. The Canadian scored the goals to make it 2:1 and 3:1 for the guests.
Capitals Silver surprise Feldkirch
After the Steel Wings Linz on Friday, the BEMER VEU Feldkirch was defeated by the Vienna Capitals Silver on Saturday as well. The Austrian Capitals clearly kept the upper hand with 4:0 and celebrated their second win of the season. Feldkirch conceded in the thirteenth game of the season already the eleventh defeat and is directly in front of the Silver Caps on the 16th place in the table. VCS goalkeeper Stefan Stehen saved all 54 shots on his goal and celebrated a shutout for the first time. The 28-years-old Swede thus played a major role in his team's clear victory.
Meran/o ends losing streak
The HC Meran/o celebrated the first victory after five defeats in a row. The league newcomer won with 3:1 at S.G. Cortina Hafro. All four goals of the game were scored in the power play. Victor Ahlström scored twice. For Cortina it was already the third defeat in a row. HCM was also able to take revenge for the clear 0:5 home defeat in the first duel of the season. In the table, the South Tyroleans are in 14th place. Cortina is ninth in the table.
