Kevin Poulin stopped Leader Vienna Capitals with 50 saves
Medvescak hosted their first game of the season on thursday in a well filled Dom Sportova Ice Hall. With Vienna coming in hot, Medveščak started with a goalie change and a new guy on the ice - Poulin.  In a game with clear favorites Medveščak showed that they're a hard cookie to crumble. Kevin Poulin finished with terrific 98% svs and 50 shots blocked, while Tuokkola faced just 23 shots but hat do pick up the puck from the goal four times! Medveščak defended, Vienna attacked but it was Medveščak who scored the first of the night: Aviani and Netik played a miniature in the offensive zone with 11 minutes on the clock and it was 1-0 for the Bears. A hard, men's game, with few penalties and heavy skating took toll on the Bears as Poulin was often left to perfom Miracles. However, first period ended with 1-0 for the home team. Second period started with Vienna's incentive, McKiernan, Vause, all tested but Poulin was firm until 25th minute. A shot from Sharp bested Medveščak's brand new netminder, who filled in Krošelj's slot and left "Ledena" silent.  Medveščak greeted their former player Kyle Klubertanz, but he got no cheers when he got sent of for Interference with 32 mintues played. However, many praised him because another new-old player on the ice for Medveščak scored his first, a powerplay and a game winning goal. Samson Mahmbod burried a shot past Tuokkola, after a pass from Netik and Morley. It was again lead for home team, a lead Vienna won't catch tonight. Just two minutes later (35m), Morley found Koudelka and another quick goal by Olden shocked Vienna. Second period ended with 3:1 for the Bears but it was Vienna with 19 shots that had the incentive. Game ended 4:1 for the home team, a surprise for all, even the hard core fans as everyone expected Vienna to be better. With four minutes to go Mahbod showed that he's a real Erste Bank Eishockey Liga player and scored his second of the night with Morley (3A) and Koudelka (2) netting more assists. Poulin got his first cheers of the season and Medveščak can go to rest for tomorrow's second back to back game of the season.

Sharks won at Villach
The fans at Villach had to wait 22 minutes for the first goal: After a shot from Stebih the puck bounced back from the boards and went via goalie Nechvatal into the net. - EC VSV had the lead. – Now the Tyroleans started to become more dangerous, but the guests could not take advantage from their chances. The Sharks also failed to score from a four minute Power Play. Early in period 3 Innsbruck was on Power Play again and now the Sharks were successful: Morten Poulsen poked the puck in for the equalizer. In the following 18 minutes both teams had chances for a second goal, but both could not score again. So the game went into an Overtime, where Sacha Guimond fixed the win for the Sharks from Innsbruck.

Black Wings beat 99ers
The Moser Medical Graz99ers had an early Power Play at Linz, but the Upper Austrians scored (first): Robert Lukas took the shot, the puck bounced back from the boards to Rick Schofield and from him the puck went into the net. The 99ers equalized just 24 seonds later, when playing still in Power Play. Then the Black Wings more and more took over the upper hand of the game: Stefan Gaffal finally deflected the puck after a shot from Jonathan D'Aversa - 2:1. Schofield then missed the 3:1 after a 3-on-2-counter. The third goal came early in period 2 and was scored by Erik Kirchschläger. The Steel Citizens now made much pressure, but just one chance was used by Stefan Gaffal for the 4:1. On the other side the Graz 99ers then scored the 2:4 from Buzzeo in a Power Play. In period 3 the Styrians tried to come back, but Linz defended well and finally decided the match with the 5:2 from Dan DaSilva into the empty net.
