Mathias From decides Carinthian Derby with a Hat-Trick

The 361st Carinthian Derby ended with a 4-1 victory for EC-KAC. The matchwinner was Mathias From, who scored a hat-trick. In the 25th round, HC Falkensteiner Pustertal also returned to the top of the standings. The South Tyroleans celebrated a convincing 7-1 home win against Pioneers Vorarlberg and are now level on points and goal difference with Moser Medical Graz99ers, but lead the table thanks to more goals scored. The Graz99ers won 3-2 against Steinbach Black Wings Linz. Additionally, EC Red Bull Salzburg defeated HC TIWAG Innsbruck 4-0, HCB Südtirol Alperia edged Vienna Capitals 2-0, and Olimpija Ljubljana won 2-1 in overtime against FTC-Telekom.

In a thrilling 361st Carinthian Derby, EC-KAC celebrated a 4-1 home win over EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. The game was decided in the final minutes. After a goalless first period, Nick Hutchinson put the visitors ahead in the 26th minute. Shortly after the restart, Mathias From equalized to make it 1-1. Just two and a half minutes later, he scored the 2-1 lead and completed his hat-trick with an empty-net goal in the 59th minute. Thomas Hundertpfund added the final empty-net goal. With this victory, KAC avenged their 3-5 loss in the first season derby.

Pustertal dominates Pioneers and returns to Top
HC Falkensteiner Pustertal claimed a comfortable 7-1 home win over Pioneers Vorarlberg, returning to the top of the table. Graz also won against Steinbach Black Wings Linz, but now sits behind Pustertal due to fewer goals scored despite having equal points and goal difference. The Pioneers initially kept up and went into the first intermission 1-1. The home team then surged in front of over 3,100 fans, scoring four goals between the 26th and 36th minutes. In the final period, Pustertal added two more goals, including a short-handed goal by Austin Rueschhoff. Tommy Purdeller was the only player to score twice.

Graz edges Linz in tight home win
Moser Medical Graz99ers dominated possession against Steinbach Black Wings Linz but only managed a 3-2 home win. Michael Schiechl scored the game-winning power-play goal in the 33rd minute. Linz initially took the lead through Brian Lebler in the 8th minute. Chris Collins equalized in the 16th, and two minutes later, defender Nico Brunner gave Graz the lead. Logan Roe equalized for Linz in the 23rd minute, but the visitors couldn’t respond to Graz’s third goal. In the first season meeting, Linz had won 3-2 at home.

Bolzano holds on for narrow win over Vienna
HCB Südtirol Alperia secured a 2-0 home win against Vienna Capitals, with the second goal coming in the final seconds. Daniel Mantenuto had put Bolzano ahead in the 31st minute, while Sam Harvey stopped all 20 shots for his second season shutout. It was Bolzano’s third consecutive win, while the Capitals suffered their second loss in a row and their sixth consecutive away defeat, dropping to 11th place.

Salzburg cruises to victory in Innsbruck
Defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg won the second season matchup against HC TIWAG Innsbruck 4-0, earning their 12th win of the season. Connor Corcoran opened the scoring in the 5th minute on a power play, Peter Schneider added the second in the 33rd minute, and Brandon Coe (43') and Lucas Thaler (45') completed the scoring in the final period. Innsbruck has suffered six losses in their last seven games.

Overtime home win for Ljubljana
Olimpija Ljubljana defeated FTC-Telekom 2-1 in overtime and remains in third place, level on points with fourth-placed KAC. FTC sits in eighth. In a low-scoring affair, Marly Quince put Ljubljana ahead in the 26th minute, Jussi Tammela equalized shortly after. In overtime, Marcel Mahkovec scored the winner, giving Ljubljana their second season victory over Budapest.
