HC Meran/o and Rittner Buam SkyAlps delivered an intense playoff battle on Thursday night in their sixth matchup of the series. The opening 40 minutes saw both teams playing at eye level, highlighted especially by outstanding saves from both goaltenders. Neither Rudy Rigoni for Meran/o nor Colin Furlong for Ritten could initially be beaten. But in the 50th minute, the home team from Meran/o finally broke through. Daniel Gellon danced his way through Ritten’s defense before the puck found Teretu Nakajima, who buried it to put Meran/o up 1-0. Ritten responded with heavy pressure, desperately trying to tie things up, but Rigoni shut the door each time. With only seconds left on the clock, Nakajima sealed the deal with his second goal of the night, securing the 2-0 victory. The winner-take-all Game 7 is set for Saturday in Ritten.
