Merano ends Jesenice's winning streak

HC Meran/o won 5-2 at home against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and put an end to the winning streak of the defending Alps Hockey League champions, as the Slovenians had to admit defeat again after seven wins in a row.

Meanwhile, leaders EK "Die Zeller" Eisbären celebrated a clear 6-1 home win, taking points in their eleventh game of the season. The fourth-placed Rittner Buam SkyAlps also scored a clear 8-2 victory in Gherdeina, thanks to four unanswered goals in the first period.

Shutouts were celebrated on Saturday by the Austrian duo Steel Wings LINZ AG and EC Bregenzerwald. Past season’s unners-up S.G. Cortina Hafro and Red Bull Hockey Juniors extended their winning streak, while EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel returned to winning ways after four straight defeats.

HC Merano/o caused a surprise in the eleventh round of the Alps Hockey League, as the South Tyrolean team won 5-2 at home against the second-placed HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and celebrated their fifth win of the season. For the defending champions from Slovenia, it was the second defeat of the season after seven wins in a row. Daniel Gellon provided the perfect start with two goals in the first six minutes. The "Adler" did not give the advantage out of their hands again and thus got the deserved victory over Jesenice.

Paulweber records hat-trick in Zell am See’s 10th season win
Clemens Paulweber scored a hat-trick in EK Die Zeller Eisbären's clear 6-1 home win over HK RST Pellet Celje giving the Alps Hockey League leaders their tenth win in the current championship. The Salzburg team thus also scored in their eleventh game this season. Midway through the second period, with the score tied at 1-1, the "Eisbären" nailed three within 2.5 minutes to take the lead. AHL top-scorer Tomi Wilenius recorded three points (2G|1A).

Alan Lobis scored the second hat-trick of the evening in his Rittner Buam SkyAlps' 8-2 away win over HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. The fourth in the table scored four times already in the first period and was unthreatened after that. Also because goalie Colin Furlong saved 39 of the 41 shots on his goal.

Steel Wings and Bregenzerwald cheer shutout wins each
Steel Wings LINZ AG and EC Bregenzerwald went without conceding a goal for the first time this season: The Upper Austrians prevailed at the EC-KAC Future Team with 2-0. The goals by Raffael Aigner (47.) and Ben Grasser (60.) only came in the final third. Linz goalie Benedikt Oschgan recorded his first shutout in the Alps Hockey League with 20 saves. For the Carinthians it was the fourth defeat in a row.

With 37 shots saved, Alexander Schmidt was the matchwinner for EC Bregenzerwald, which celebrated a 3-0 shutout win over the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. Kai Fässler (14.) and Manuel Metzler (19.) laid the foundation for the fifth win in the fifth home game already in the first period.

Cortina and Salzburg extend winning streaks
S.G. Cortina Hafro and Red Bull Hockey Juniors each recorded their fourth win in a row: The reigning vice-champion prevailed at home against SHC Fassa Falcons with 3-2, the game-winner was netted by Enrico Larcher five minutes before the end, after the guests came back from a two-goal deficit in the "Derby Landino".

Salzburg played to their offensive strengths against EHC Lustenau, triumphing 4-2 in a fast-paced encounter with Vasily Zelenov scoring a brace. Thus, the Salzburgers moved up in the standings to the "Stickers", who suffered their third defeat in a row, and are in ninth place.

Meanwhile, EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel returned to winning ways: after four defeats in a row, the Tyroleans prevailed 5-2 at home against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Head Coach Marco Pewal's team was already 4-0 ahead after 24 minutes.
