There were many personnel changes at the Moser Medical Graz99ers in the summer. The Styrians signed a total of 17 new players in the offseason. Michael Schiechl, who has been playing for the team from the Styrian capital since 2020, is still part of the team. The 35-year-old is excited for the start of the season and is aware that expectations are significantly higher than in the previous season.

With just 32 points from 48 games, last season was disappointing for the Moser Medical Graz99ers. However, confidence is now returning as the Styrians have signed 17 new players, some of whom are top-class players. Expectations have therefore also risen considerably for veteran Michael Schiechl. “I think everyone's expectations are very high and I hope we can keep up with them.”

The 35-year-old is one of the few players who was already under contract with the 99ers last season. Despite the many new faces, Schiechl reports that the team chemistry is already good. “Graz has done a very good job with scouting. We've also already had a lot of team events. That's very important so that we all get to know each other better. But I think the hockey language is the same everywhere and everyone knows what it's all about and we're really looking forward to the new season.”

The first highlight for the forward is the first home game on Friday, September 27 against Villach (19:30/live.ice.hockey). The two-time ICE champion also has an appeal to the fans: “I'm particularly pleased that the preseason is finally over and that we can get back to ‘real’ hockey and hopefully many fans will come to the first home game so that the bunker is sold-out.”
