HCB Südtirol Alperia faces its first must-win game today at EC Red Bull Salzburg. The “Foxes” are trailing 1:3 in the semi-final series. Nevertheless, 33-year-old Mike Halmo, who is already in his sixth season with Bolzano and has played more than 300 league games, remains positive and is hoping for an important away win.

Salzburg vs. Bolzano will be streamed free of charge on www.live.ice.hockey from 18:55. The match will also be available on www.puls24.at/eishockey and on the free streaming service JOYN. DAZN Italia will broadcast the match live for all Italian fans.

“We have to concentrate fully on the game on Friday and not think about the whole series. Our goal is to go to Salzburg and win the game. We have to stay positive and give our best - the series hasn't been decided yet,” said Mike Halmo ahead of the game in Salzburg.

The 33-year-old Canadian will play his 321st game for Bolzano on Friday and has scored 208 points in that time. In the playoffs, Halmo has been on the ice 68 times so far and scored 32 points. His greatest success was winning the championship with the “Foxes” in 2018. Salzburg was also the opponent back then, and Bolzano prevailed 3:2 in Salzburg in the decisive game. In recent years, the two teams have faced each other several times in the play-offs - most recently in the semi-finals last season and two seasons ago in the final. In both cases, Salzburg won in the all-important seventh game.

Mike Halmo recognizes many parallels to the current series: “In past series, many games could have tipped one way or the other, just like in this one. Unfortunately, we were and are mostly on the unlucky side. But nothing has been decided yet, and we hope that we will now switch to the lucky side.”
