A new presidium was elected at the General Assembly of the win2day ICE Hockey League on Tuesday. The only nomination submitted - with Dr Alexander Gruber at its head - was unanimously accepted and the Viennese was elected to this position for four years. The 63-year-old took over the presidency from Jochen Pildner-Steinburg, who has led the league through the difficult coronavirus period over the past four years and made an important contribution to the further development of ice hockey. Alexander Gruber is a well-known name in Austrian ice hockey. As a forward, he played for over a decade with the Wiener Eislauf-Verein in the top division. The lawyer remained involved in ice hockey even after his career ended, serving as a member of the justice commission since the league was founded and also serving as Vice President of the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation for several years.

"I would like to thank the clubs for their trust. I have been closely associated with the win2day ICE Hockey League for two decades and am looking forward to my new role. Together with the presidium members, the clubs and the league organisation, we want to continue the successful path we have taken in recent years. I would also like to thank the last presidium, which led the league through a challenging period. We see ourselves as representatives of an international league and try to further strengthen all existing markets. There should be an internal dialogue at all levels; we want to advance the league through unity and make it even more visible. There have already been very constructive discussions on this during the General Assembly and I am looking forward to a positive ice hockey future," says Dr Alexander Gruber, looking forward to the coming period as ICE President.

Four new Vice Presidents
During the General Assembly, the new presidium of the win2day ICE Hockey League was increased to five members. Dr René Dimter, DI Johannes Schwaiger, Erich Falkensteiner and Viktor Szelig took on the role of Vice Presidents.

Dr René Dimter is responsible for all ice hockey activities at Red Bull and is currently also involved in the construction of the new arena in Munich. Johannes Schwaiger, a businessman from Klagenfurt, is the president at EC-KAC, where he has been a member of the board in various functions for ten years. Erich Falkensteiner, businessman and hotelier, has been president of HC Pustertal Wölfe since 2021. The ICE presidium is completed by Hydro Fehérvár AV19 manager Viktor Szelig, who was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame last year.

Karl Safron appointed Honorary President
Karl Safron has been appointed Honorary President of the win2day ICE Hockey League for his services. The 74-year-old was one of the founders of the league in 2000 and was then elected president in 2009. Until the end, the Carinthian was part of the presidium in various functions.
